New tire recommendation for 23 Lightning Lariat - Range and Noise higher priority

Hello all,
I have the OEM Hankook Dynapro AT2 tires on my'23 Lighning and due for tires. I mostly drive 2 lane country roads for commuting and probably a quarterly Interstate road trip. Wet traction is important, but I do not drive much off-road more than going to a state park and it on snows about twice a year where I'm at in VA, and if it's bad I am lucky enough to work from home. So it's always a trade-off right, so of course I want good traction, but other than rain, I don't drive in much bad weather nor rough terrain.

So my top considerations are a good rolling resistance to maintain range, manageable road noise, and a longer than 35K on the OEM tires would be desirable. I don't consider myself an expert, but I value the opinions of this forum's members and I do like researching before making purchases. I've read several threads on here, and it's turned me on to looking at the Hankook Ion HT, Goodyear Wrangler HT, and the Michelin Defender LTX's. This isn't my final drawdown, just some I've pulled from other threads. So if anyone has recommendations or their personal experience from similar driving profiles, I'd love to hear some recommendations or advice.

My truck came with the Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT and they are a good all around tire. Quiet, good traction in wet and snow, with decent rolling resistance. They are also one of the cheapest options for the Lightning.

My 23 Lariat came with the general grabber hts and they were great for everything you mention..

I went out to left field and replaced my Grabbers with Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent. I've got around 27k miles on them now. I can't tell the difference in performance compared to the Grabbers. No additional noise, no loss of range, and traction in rain has been good. I've had it in the snow twice, both times ice was reported on the mountain but I took it easy and had no issues. I keep meaning to get a wear measurement, just eye balling I'd say more than half of the tread is used up. I should be able to get 40k which is about par with the condition of the Grabbers when I replaced them. I was looking for a more A/T look without the sacrifices and these nailed it.

When I ordered, there was a $80 rebate that made them $280/ea. I plan to replace with the same in the future.

Went with Toyo Open Country AT3 EV tires. Amazing decision in my opinion. Def worth an add to your search list.

I’ve been riding the Continental TerrainContact A/T since December 2022 (32,000 miles). At the time they were the lightest (57 lbs *I think*) 20” all-terrain tire I could find. I’ve been very pleased with everything about them. The Continentals, Vossen wheels, and leveling kit were all done at the same time so I can’t speak to the isolated range impact of the tires, but I get 1.8 mi/kW at 70 mph on the Interstate.

I'm going to go ahead and say I'm your tire guy here lol: I just went through this the past 6 months - I replaced my stock 20 inch Dynapro AT2's at ~11,000 miles (yes I drive aggressively) as the tread blocks closest to the outer edge were bald and the truck was wandering way to much with just a little moisture on the road. I wanted a decent winter set so I got the AT2 Xtremes (efficiency hit of ~.3mi/kwh, little bit more road noise) and they were pretty good winter tires IMO. I bought a second set of wheels (22s) with used General HTS60's and they were about as good as the bald Dynapro's in the wet this spring. Two of those four tires were worse than the others so I kept those in the back and put on two new Michelin Primacy LTX XL's on the front. The Primacy's have been great (on par with efficiency as good as the Dynapro AT2's, quiter than the Xtremes) and if the price didn't go up so much since I bought the two on clearance, I would buy 2 more right now.

Are you rolling on 20s or 22s?
I would say you would be happiest with The Defender LTX M/S2 if on 20s, the Primacy LTX if on 22s, or even the Hankook Ion HT’s in either size.

Is there anyone out there with the Continental HT’s?

I just replaced my General Grabber tires with Hankook Ion HT's. The ride is comparable. Wet weather traction is better. The noise is slightly higher but barely noticeable. I'm assuming this is because of the tire being new with no wear. I am seeing better efficiency compared to my Generals. Price and the 80K mile life expectancy were a driving factor for me. I was considering the Michelin Defender LTX's. I liked the Generals but they wore out really fast.

Does that look like an all season tire? What would you call it then? Don't know what else to say, I suppose I can use my phone app to record the dB at various speeds to indicate how quiet the ride is.

It is probably a good tire for the OP’s request although I like Defenders.

After researching my choices here and elsewhere, I replaced the OEM Hankooks on my 22 Lariat at about 30K miles with Michelin Defenders. I can already tell they’re quieter and likely to last a lot longer.

It is probably a good tire for the OP’s request although I like Defenders.

All season compound is not the same thing as an all season tire pattern. I'll grant that It's not on the same level as a KO2, but there is more ruggedness than the Defender. It looks A/T to me. The step up to the KO2 is what I would call an off road tire and I think that is what @djryan13 is implying all A/T tires should be. I would argue that you can have all terrain and quiet/efficiency. The sacrifices are made when stepping up another level to off road tires.
