Is there a way to use the Lightning Flash camera system to record video?

Good morning, I want to get a dash cam but the Lightning already has some great cameras with a 360 view, plus the side view cameras that pop up when you're towing are fantastic. Is there a way to utilize the existing system as a dash-cam? If not, what's the best dash-cam for my model? 2025 Supercrew, XLT Flash.

Several options to look at on the forum. I personally have the fit cam x as it's an easy installation with the existing rear view mirror post and power. I did not instal the rear cam but I know others on here have.

XLT and Flash are two different trims.

To your question... There is no known way to use the onboard cameras to record like a dash cam. If there is a way, it hasn't been shared.

I have a FitcamX like @DoyouLightning and I like the fit and finish. Good quality video. I installed the rear camera as well, it wasn't terribly difficult and gives a good view if someone decides to rear-end you.

I have a Redtiger dash cam that I installed in my wife's Mach-e. Easy install also with the rear camera. Higher quality video than the FitcamX and less expensive, but not nearly as "invisible" of an install as the FitcamX is. The Redtiger I got is the small one without any screen, but it still is visible on the windshield.

I was going to get that one, but when i searched for local car audio installers, their website had this one: https://www.momentocam.com/dash-cams/m8/md-8400 It's over a hundred dollars cheaper than the Viofo and a lower profile. I like clean and simple. we will see. thanks for your input.

Another example of great truck lousy software. I use the FitCam front and rear and am quite satisfied.

You're the first one to correct me on that. Everything I've read states both levels but never said they were seperate. So does that mean the Lariat is one level above the Flash? It was my understanding that the Flash designation included the upgraded 15" screen, Pro Power, etc. I just sold my F250 Diesel Lariat and I miss some of those trim features.

I think the STX was going to replace the XLT for MY26 but that got scrapped along with the Lightning. I don’t think any were ever produced beyond prototypes.

I have a 2024 flash and after much research I went with the Rexing brand. They had a v-5 bundle that was around $150. Front, rear and a cabin camera. I installed myself. Not hard at all. The inside camera didn’t work for me. I wanted a cabin camera that would look down into the back seat area so I can keep an eye out for what my dogs r doing. Rexing had a baby monitor that was purchased separately for about $50. I installed that too with no problems. So I am covered. plus Rexing will give u an extended warranty for just a review. So 18 months extra. So far I am pleased with its performance and quality. Also I was scared to install it but once I figured out the route the wires needed to take it went smoothly. Just be careful of the airbags and your wiring. Don’t want to block them. As for durability: I accidentally drove over the box with the camera still inside the box. After beating myself up for forgetting I put it on the ground. I opened the box and holy crap no damage.
