One thing miss d in this thread is subscriptions. Farley has stated that they want subscriptions and only Ford dealers.being able to work on their new vehicles.

In the video linked below, the creator makes the case from reading the fine print that the Fathom is going to be "a subscription truck". He admits he could be wrong but we know car.manufactueres want to go this way. Just like John Deer did for tractors and GM is trying to do now.
The more auto tries to push subscriptions, the more likely I am to say, "No". And it won't take much to turn that into a, "hell no". Especially when they can't even deliver on the SW front to begin with. There's no confidence to make me even consider it.

Scary enough owning their Lightning. Pretty sure I’ll be eating a bigger loss on the Lightning than anything I’ve owned (in 47 yrs of owning vehicles). Too bad it’s the best vehicle I’ve owned. Until it isn’t. Just waiting.
What? Do you expect a lot of problems at 70K miles or something? What are you waiting for? I've been leasing my 2024 Flash for almost two years. Still haven't put 10000K on it yet. I guess I'm really asking. I guess you're just referring to the cost end of the deal; not the reliability of the truck.

Personally, I think this style of reveal/advertising is totally ineffective. Amateurish at best.

If you don't have anything to show, keep it to yourself.

If the Fathom was a girl trying to get my attention back in then day, I'd move on and avoid the mental instability.

This teaser won't stop anyone from buying what they want at the moment.... and those Chinese trucks with nice styling and long ranges are looking better every day.

You should have kept the battery version of the Lightning as an option on the F150 and produced the EREV for the toy hauler. Bring back the F150 BEV with better batteries and you'll have a hit again. The F150 is your best selling truck for a reason.

Make that cork-popping sound and get your head out of your rear-end. Your future depends on it.
I would have really liked to been able to buy one of these in my twenties. I moved a lot and, being a drum player; had a need to haul my drums around. I didn't have a good-paying job although I worked full time plus overtime; and had no credit. I'm talking back in the early the mid 1970s, early 80s. I would think Ford could sell enough of these at that price if they hold their value, to make a nice profit.

Different use case, different category of vehicle, different demographic of buyer. In my opinion maybe 30% of the Lighting buyers would have chosen an EV Maverick. I'm not saying it wouldn't sell, just been a different set of buyers. And no I will not buy a small Ford EV.
What turned me off of the F-150 was the length and the large rear part of the cabin making the bed short. I had a 2019 Ram with a quad cab and that seemed perfect to me. I leased that truck for 3 years, then financed it at lease end.. My payment was @$450 month for 7 more years.

We had bought a Kia EV6 in 2022 and fell in love with EVs. I very much wanted an EV truck. I had a need for one and the convenience of charging at home was so enticing. Looking around the city, we stumbled on the 2024 Flash on a Ford dealer's lot we decided what kind of deal they would give us on it. We ended up with a lower monthly payment for the lease on the Flash that I was stuck with on the RAM. Yes, at the end of this lease I will have to walk away with nothing; whereas with the RAM I had about 5 more years with that payment getting about 19 MPG just to make a trip to the city.

I'm glad so far with my decision. I absolutely love the quickness of this truck for one thing. Another big plus is being able to have 240V backup for my house. We need that in our area where on average we have had probably at least 2 or more lengthy power outages a year. I love the ride for a large pickup and we find it very useful. Thank you Ford for making this available. The Silverado seemed like a more desirable choice because of the extended cargo bed, but it was priced way out of my price range.

I've only looked at a few minutes of content and leaked spy images of test mules, but I'll just open with this. I've already confirmed my Slate order. I had the Slate, Scout and Telo reserved from pretty early on, but I think I'm ready to cancel all but the Slate.

I currently have zero interest in the Fathom. It combines everything I dislike about modern vehicles (complex digitized systems and components, limited repairability and an unfortunately high beltline that makes it feel like a bathtub). Plus with Farley's multiple recent absolutely terrible public statements on Ford's future direction with regards to right to repair, I have no interest in going with a new Ford product, until their philosophy towards customers and true vehicle ownership, change.

For my needs the Lightning is great, I just wish it had more range. I love it, but after three years of cross country travel while towing with the Lightning, combined with the infrastructure still not being optimized for towing EVs, it just isn't cut out for RV travel. For longer range travel while towing, and hauling, I have a 2024 7.3L gas F350.

The question for Ford and Slate for that matter is how much unit volume is it going to take to keep it in production and not get slammed with a 10 billion $ corporate right down. If the Lightning is any indication the number has 6 figures per year for Ford. Hopefully Slate can at least survive with half the volume. Add dealing with the upcoming "market adjustment" pricing and Fords previous "packaging" of options I wouldn't count on getting a 30K$ Ford any time soon.
Oh god, yeah I hadn't even thought about that. The "market robbery" is probably gonna be nightmarish on these when the hit the dealers. One more reason to buy from another company with a direct-to-consumer model.
