This SSM's expansion to all model years isn't confidence inspiring. Ford really needs to extend out the mileage and time on these warranties, and I don't think a paid option should be the primary method of doing that.FORD knows more about our individual truck battery than anyone else. FORD also wants to have subscriptions be a big part of their future.
It seems logical that FORD could offer a subscription (insurance) for battery replacement.
Demand an Upfront payment ($3-5k) for another 4 to 8 years of ownership based on the battery's condition at the 8 year/100k mark.

I quoted through to be able to read the contract and there are some nuances that would be very relevant to a Lightning.see this site for Battery only coverage with $500 deductible...looks like about $4000 for coverage until 2036

"Its high-voltage battery and drive-unit coverage generally requires the vehicle to be less than 7 years old and under 100,000 miles when purchased. Older EVs may still qualify for coverage on other components, but not the battery."
but not sure what happens to costs if already at 7+ years, 90K miles.
So, I put in for a 2021 Mach-E with 90K miles and it gives COVERAGE UNTIL SEP. 2036 or 240,000 miles $4,452
Term length: 10 years / 150,000 miles
So maybe there is some hope?

I may or may not be on your spreadsheet. I had a module failure with no DTCs last year. I wrote about somewhere on this website.Originally for the 2022-23s Ford issued a 4% of EVs for one or more HV modules to be replaced. I had the Ford recall before any failures of having 3 of the 9 SR modules replaced. But it seems to me, without any real stats, that at least 10% of trucks have been in for battery module replacements that probably cost $4000 for the parts and another $2000 for labor? $6K to keep the Lightning going? Or will the hassle of other possible failures of coolant valves, motors, converters, a/c, add to the $ pain of trying (with poor dealers and part delays) to keep this amazing vehicle going? See my spreadsheet in my signature for tracking of reported battery module replacements.
Did you happen to also note what it reported as the usable capacity in kWh?Well, I will definitely be charging to 100% every quarter or so to make sure my cells are good. With 62K miles on the clock, my HVB seems to be in good shape.

Thanks, I'm still trying to make sense of the relationship between usable in kWh, BECM reported Ah, and SOH. When I last charged to 100% I was able to get 131 kWh but my SOH was 95%. Unfortunately I didn't record the BECM measurement to get a full comparison. The claim is that SOH is the % of BECM measurement to max at new. But what I don't understand is how that could be lower and still achieve the max usable energy. I guess I need to charge to 100% again.

Here's are the metrics when I had a bad module. Exhibited the symptoms of this SSM and wouldn't charge past 88%.Slightly lower SOH, yet same full energy to empty. Does your app also show the BECM measurement? I keep forgetting to check mine, but I haven't seen it in the PID default list. I'm guessing I just am not looking in the right spot.
