Yeah I’ll definitely be keeping my little guy in his booster seat in the back for a while especially after seeing this.
Agreed, until they max out the weight limit for the booster. My 6yr old is still small enough to need a high back booster.

I wonder if there are ways to mitigate the seatbelt moving out of place for passengers that don't normally need a booster. The compartment otherwise looks like it handled well.

I just put my 5’ tall kid back into a booster because of this test, can’t say she’s too thrilled about that.

The poor rating is basically because the seat belt can move, causing the shoulder belt to ride up around the neck of the rear passenger and the lap belt to move up around the abdomen..basically everything we use a car seat/booster to avoid and unfortunately for me, it’s the only way I feel comfortable with her riding in it now.

For those that don’t have kids or use rear passengers, it’ll still be a phenomenal truck.

Unfortunately for me, she goes into the booster for shorter trips and if we want to go camping, I have to haul the camper with the Ford and the wife and kids hop into a second car as a chase vehicle.

I’ve been stressing about this a bit since the test came out. For anyone who cares:

- Looked into adult/special needs booster seats, none have actually been crash tested.
- Considered a seat belt positioner, read up on the plastics snapping, and it may provide peace of mind but reality is they’re not tested.
- Considered 5pt harness retrofit, risky with no cage/helmet. Not sure what the effect would be in a rollover (ie, roof cave in)
- Tried rationalizing it, after all the Honda Odyssey failed and that was made for families…
- Considered going back to a R1T since it passed. I left that truck for a reason. It’s too small on the interior for the full family and dog.
- Cybertruck…I can’t do it.
- Sell the travel trailer and go back to tent camping/cabins
- Go back to gas and get a Toyota Tundra, which passed but only in 2025.
