24 Flash Fabric Tape Underside Hanging Down

Hello,

I've set an online visit with the local Ford dealer, but they're a week out. I was just wondering if any of y'all might know what this thing here is that's hanging down right now?
I've had the truck for a little over 2 months and about 2.2k miles so far. Many thanks for any knowledge and advice!

Funny you say that, I had noticed something like that too. Gonna go take a pic this afternoon and see if it is still there

I think the thing that the tape is hanging off is the wiring harness for the backup warning sound and low speed sound speaker.

If that was my truck I would snip off the hanging piece of tape and carry on.

maybe take some electrical tape and just wrap it up so the connections aren't open to the weather?

The connections are rated for the weather. If I had to guess, that tape is there to make installation slightly more ergonomic.

Definitely trim the tape. Replace it if you want to but I'd consider it optional.

I bet $1 a dealership will just cut it off and call it good.

They just trimmed it and the visit was only for 5 minutes; I still took it to the dealer to make sure it was logged in case anything else pops up in the future that's related it. Still seems odd that the tape would come off that easily; I wish they would've use another material that's able to keep it in place better, or just not tape it at all.

Does it come off that easily? Yours is the first one I've heard of and this thread didn't exactly blow up. I think you just got a little unlucky.

Based on this site, I think batteries fail more than tape.

Get some more wiring harness tape on Amazon, handy to have as the factory stuff often has really cheap adhesive. Also get some orange harness tape for high voltage harnesses when or if that tape lets go too. I had that happen to me up behind the fender.
