That's a legal requirement. All manufacturers must provide that warranty.
And...??

I was responding to a post by @KevinC, where he said " Maybe it offers hope that after a few years owning a lightning when the warranties about out".

Given that the warranty doesn't run out "after a few years" but in 8 years, there won't be a short term need to replace the battery.

Of course in reality few BEVs ever have had battery replacements because they last a long longer than some think.

They may not legally need to have some warranty but no one would currently dare to buy an EV without an extended warranty yet.
The calculation of what is warranty may end up being an issue later.

It's a California law. They have categorized it as an emissions warranty.
