Anyone understand the recent discounts?

Thank you everyone for your input. I ended up buying a 2023 XLT XR. Got the -$7,500 IRS EV, -$500 Farm Bureau, and -$7,500 Cash back. Apparently the other program referenced -$7,500 Cash back and low rate financing. Couldn’t take both. I love the truck.

Love the truck mixed with wait until you've been through a few long trip range anxiety attacks/recalls/CSP's & 30+ days in service - though - yes the ride is awesome/handsome/radical-power-speed - love that part.

Really glad I was following these forums. Had been bummed about missing the rebates when they moved to promotional APRs.... but was able to negotiate some off MSRP... then Ford announced $7500 XLT ER rebate in addition to $7500 EV credit. Took a little bit to convince the dealer to look at Fords own website that it was $15k PLUS the discount we negotiated.

Needless to say, we're elated with our new Lightning. First time truck buyers, too. Feels like it was a great deal. Fingers crossed for happy batteries (Oct 2023 build date).

5000 discount for trade in plus ford financing
7500 factory discount
7500 irs discount, had to use last years taxes and made the cutoff by $230 lol

they tried giving me 13k for my 15 lariat trade in, got em to give me 19. Was a little bit stuck there as i had to trade something in and use their financing to get the 5k discount, could have gotten more for my old truck w/a private seller but not too shabby. I understand theyre trying to make as much as they can off of me and vice versa. Overall, very pleased with Maxwell Ford in Austin TX.

Most of the trucks showed this. This specific xlt with ER had 7500/5000 and i confirmed through probably 15 phone calls that the 7500 irs credit could still be added to it. It ended up being true and i got a ton off of sticker for this truck.

It makes sense though, i doubt people were buying extended range xlt’s when lariats were just a few grand more for a lot more features. This had been sitting on the lot for a bit and was priced to move fast. When i saw it I jumped on it and harassed their phone lines from 8am-12:30pm until i showed up to buy it. Also, red isnt the most desirable color but idgaf, 20k for mods and i can wrap it nardo grey or something stupid.

$5000 discount for trade in isn't real - you just got $5000 less trade in & they added it back as a new purchase "discount" and/or financing at a higher interest rate - you'll need to post the invoice to prove a $20,000 total "discount". I'm on several forums and have never seen anything close to that for a Lightning.

The $7500 IRS - pertaining to last year's taxes makes no sense - a buy this year pertains to this year's taxes at the point of sale and your qualifying MAGI

The tax credit looks at the lower of your current AGI or the previous (2022) year's AGI; at least for the 2023 tax year.

Others have posted elsewhere that they are getting $7500 retail cash, $7500 Fed credit and $5000 or more dealer discount, so $20k off or more on the XLT ER. And in some areas of the country the $7500 retail cash also covers the Lariat ER

I get the $15k - however the $5k dealer discount has fine print for trade-ins/use of financing - like to see an invoice for all 3 + farm bureau/veteran/1st responder et al to use at a dealership.
