Waiting to see what rebates they have in Feb but more than likely what will happen is if a dealer has a 5k discount currently and Ford throws out a $2500 rebate the dealers will adjust to only a $2500 dealer discount. Thus we end up in the same predicament. ??‍♂ Dealers soured the ev buyers with their adm’s months ago. They wanted 5k over on an ordered Mach E a year ago so I ended up ordering a Cadillac CT5 and got $2500 off MSRP.

Unsurprisingly the $7500 tax credit disappearing on the Mach E has torpedoed sales. It’s pretty much impossible for Ford to compete on price when comparables like the Tesla Model Y are getting $7500 point of sale.

Ford doesn't want them gone. If they did, they'd take the loss and offer the dealers rebates to drop the sale price. Ford want's them to sell for the current price which is hard for a myriad of reasons, so now they're going to rent them out?! After all the rental companies are doing away with EVs as they are so accident prone for drivers who aren't used to EVs, and the MachE is a beast to an ICE driver, there will be accidents. I guess it's a good way to get the insurance companies to pay for them if they can't sell them to customers.

I will take any of this 'info' with a very LARGE grain of salt... being that ALL makes and models of ALL vehicles are 'piling up on dealer lots', as we are coming slowly out of the 'slow down' of manufacturing of ALL vehicles...

I would certainly hope that dealers have a LOT of inventory, it gives us buyers a lot of choices... it has little bearing on the 'ev' mention in this article.

Bunch of negative Nancies shilling for oil and gas companies. Just like any losing side, it's always the same regurgitated stats or straight up fabrications. Fake personal experiences or I heard it from my cousins father's brother mother.

Here are the points, feel free to add:

-too expensive, they should cost the same as a 1996 Chevy cavalier.
-will explode if jostled
-no stock on lots=bad
-stock on lots=bad
-can't travel 4000 miles while towing 17000lbs.
-can't travel 1000miles in cold weather
-car repairs are too expensive, only because it's an ev though, all other cars are super cheap to maintain and never break down.
-mechanics and body shops can't work on ev's because they are made differently, they don't have unibodies or bodies on frame, it's some unknown and magical tech, the panels are made from unicorn horn.
-too heavy, like way more than my 1996 cavalier, we can't have heavy vehicles on the road.
-too much technology, I need to see a needle moving in a round plate and a physical button for everything.
-too quiet and smooth, will make you physically ill by driving it(unfortunately not even joking about that, someone tried to make that claim).
-you will be electromagnetically irradiated by driving one(person claimed they were radioactive) .
-mining battery metals is dirty, unlike all of the other mining and resource harvesting.
-too much power for slippery roads
-the ceo of Toyota says only buy Toyota gas cars.
-the govmint is making you do it.

Credit to Internet comment bots for most of these.

No problem, Ford, I think I have room for another EV or two if you want me to take some off of your hands. I have a motorcycle you can have, if you would like, that would give me more room in the garage.

If you have one in silver, that would be great! I think my sister would prefer a blue one, but white would be OK. Anything other than green, actually, we aren't that picky.

Here is a clue, Ford. I bought my E-Golf in 2019 for $30,000 with a $7500 tax rebate. With that kind of pricing you should be able to clear the lots. Just write it off - or stop whining. $60K is a lot for a car when there are better alternatives.

No joke, my first car was a '96 Cavalier. No power windows, door locks, cruise control...that sucker was bare bones. Paid $5k for it in 2002...had no experience haggling. Was just happy to have a car at that point.
