I have setup PAAK and it works fine. I’m trying to set a backup start passcode and it keeps failing with a message to take it in for service.

Is there a trick to it?
Anyone else have this issue?

I never got my password to set. Even when using a proper password it fails to setup. So I made sure I knew my door code and I took the battery out of my 2nd key fob and placed it in my center console. Then if I lose my phone or it dies I can place the key fob in the cup holder to drive. I also left the battery in the center console if I want to put it back in.

Clever solution. :)

Hopefully someone has actually got it working ok.

I have had backup code working for about a month. I strumbled on it going thru the settings and followed the instructions. No issues getting it to work and I have tested it accidentally a couple times. Nice feature. The truck knows when you use the door pillar keypad and does not detect you are carrying a fob or your phone with PAAK, asks if you want to use your backup code. Kinda like “dummy, I know what’s going on and I can help you overcome your stupidity”. One of the better thought out, tested, and implemented software developed items.

Do you also have a FOB with you while trying to set the pass code?

Yes I did. You have to be able to start the truck, or into accessory mode, to get into your settings to program the backup code.

I had this issue yesterday. I just left the truck for a while. Drove home from work that day and tried again. Worked that time. Idk what it was, but I just figured like most computers if you just let it reset it'd be okay.

I revived the PAAK update last night (10/28). Worked perfectly. The backup passcode was set without issue.

I can’t get it to work, or reset or delete. I keep getting the following message:

Ford F-150 Lightning Backup start passcode IMG_3187

Delete the phone as a key profile on the truck. Delete the FordPass app from your phone and start all over. This did it for me

It set up and works for me. It’s a really annoying passcode but it works. I use it when I wash my truck since my phone is connected to the Sonos in the garage. I always just jump in and punch in the code to move it back into the garage after the wash.

I did the door code and start code thing initially with my MME. Then promptly forgot both ?. I’d used the iPhone PAAK for nearly a year with no issues. Then my phone went dead & would not open the car. I jonesd for a lightning (?) cable at the college, charged the phone, went home.
The door code I have now… I’ll never forget. the start code is written down, safely tucked away. . FYI, setting up PAAK is easy but god help you if you miss a step, have wonky Bluetooth, have drunk to much coffee, in a hurry, have 7 digits on each hand, are dyslexic, and have no Millennials or Zers nearby to assist.. ?.
