Bed Liner?????

If your going with a drop in make sure the liner has pro power access on driver side and passenger side bed cargo wall door access. My 2023 did not have passenger side wall cargo door while my 2024 did. They were both Ford Branded.

I put in a bed rug matt when I got the truck, and a solid 3-fold tonneau cover.
been thinking about two options for bed protection:
1. spray in liner with the rug on top as well.
2. spray just the vertical areas/wheel housings and leave the floor with the bed rug as is.

Still thinking about it as I use the truck for work, and camping fishing stuff...

Drop-ins can trap water and eventually rust your bed ...

I don't understand why anyone would go for a welcome mat or a plastic garbage bin (let's face it that's what drop-ins are - might as well say Rubbermaid on them).

A: The Ford has an aluminum bed. Its not going to rust.

Seems to be a mental thing. Scraping the factory paint off the cargo bed of a pickup is really bothersome to almost all of us. Which is weird because I bet none of us would cry over the paint coming off the bucket of a front loader or the forks of a forklift used to load the truck.

Scratching all the way through a spray-on liner or scraping part of it off seems it would have a similar mental impact as peeling off some of the factory paint. Sure, the spray might be thicker and tougher than just the factory paint, but a steel shovel edge or a nail hanging out the bottom of a pallet will probably still manage to scrape it off.

But scuffing, peeling off some material, or even denting a plastic drop-in liner is just seen as normal wear and tear (as long as an actual hole is not created).

It is a matter of opinion and preference. The optimum answer also depends a lot on the intended cargo and usage.

I had my bed sprayed, but if I had to do it all over again, I would opt for the drop in. Most of my use is sliding heavy or bulky things in and out and the drop in makes that much easier.
The spray in looks nicer, but for my needs, the drop would have been a better choice.

Aluminum oxidizes (aka rust) just like any other metal, Yes the rate is slower. Given enough time, water destroys everything. Ask anyone with a boat.

I've had them all. The BedRug is my favorite. Hands down. It's tough, easier on the knees, less expensive than spray-in, can be swapped to another truck later, etc. I loved my BedRug.

This new Lightning I just got was sprayed by the dealership, so eh....I'll just use it like this.

In my family, we have an Alumacraft boat purchased by my grandfather from Sears in 1964. Aluminum riveted construction, so no galvanic corrosion. Plenty of dents and scratches, but its still water tight. Built the same year I was born, that boat is on pace to easily outlive me.

A painted bed, with a mat or cover, won't rust.

Sprayed with rubber mat works great.

I bought a Duraliner in Oct. 24 for $260 plus $75 install. Great deal and great fit. The cut-outs were not protected from debris/sand but really not an issure. I love it. I had one in my other pickup last for year. I like the plastic liners because they are easy to remove/sweep sand, wood chips, etc from the bed. Spray on are rough and catch debris preventing cleaning. The bed is Alumium and painted so no issue of rust. Easier on kneeling on the bed for cleaning and other stuff.

Wow, I'm glad I got my DualLiner bed liner when I got it...

Phew! Same here.
I really like mine. Soft/no-skid on the bottom. Rigid protection for the sides. I'm sure someone else will fill the gap and make a comparable product.

YES, Rigid Protection for the sides of an ALUMINUM BED, that would dent easy , , , with a spray on bed liner.... But to each their own. I pull the mat out (pretty easily) every 6 months or so and wash out the bed when I'm washing the truck with the pressure washer....
