I was returning home from a Christmas trip. Bluecrise was on and working. All the sudden it started alarming that face blocked. (note, no change to my looking ahead or any other self cause) It turned on my emergency flashers. I tried to disengage but it wouldn't work. It stated stuttering as if it was brake tapping or there were small bump strips on the interstate. I pulled of the interstate. Turned it off and restarted truck (2023 Plat) . No problems after. The truck trying to slow its self down was disconcerting. Any idea why it would happen?

No idea WHY it would happen, sounds like a ghost in the machine.

What it sounds like from your description is what BC does as the final step when it thinks you aren't paying attention. It brake checks to try and wake you up as well as the alarms and ultimately stops with your hazard lights flashing. Are you absolutely sure you didn't get the initial "pay attention" warnings or "resume control" warnings first?

Nothing fell from the dash or rearview mirror to drape over the IR camera which is located to right of the steering wheel and left of the Sync display??

If no, then something weird happened to the IR camera causing the system think that it couldn't "SEE" you.

Does it actually stop now? I don't recall it doing that in Out of Specs ADAS test. 1.2 in the Mach E slowed to about 5 mph but didn't stop/enable the hazards. Haven't seen a test of 1.4

Agreed. I’d scan it & see what DTCs show.
I’ve had it freak out if it can’t see my eyes due to RayBans, but it always gives warnings first.
Only time outside of driver causing the issue is when I’m coming up on the bay bridge & it cuts out. But definitely doesn’t throw hazards and slow down as If I’m asleep or having a medical emergency.

I haven't personally tried it, I read about it in the manual, in this forum, or the Mach-e forum. My Lightning Pro doesn't have blue cruise, but my previous MME did. I have felt the brake check before, but I never took it to the full stop with the hazard lights on.

Wild. I’ve noticed solar glare at just the perfect angle can cause the camera(s) to glitch and start throwing warnings. But I’ve not experienced anything that crazy. It does make me wonder though what BC 1.4 does if you essentially pass out at the wheel.

Took a trip with the wife’s Tesla and it did the phantom braking about 6-7 times during the trip. I also had it happen with the Lightning, but at least I can turn that off. Really makes me think about the robotaxi and probably why they won’t take the highways. Robot cruise control is nowhere near 100% reliable.

With the steering wheel and seat positioning I prefer, I had to train myself to not hold my right hand where it blocks the BC face camera. It was pretty annoying until it became automatic.

Driving away from a low-angle sun (sun coming in the rear windows at just the wrong angle) I've had it glitch the face camera once or twice too though never like you described.

Sounds like you fell asleep. At least that's what the truck thought.

Do you have speed assist enabled?

On vision only or vision/radar I definitely agree. I suspect an alert human could surpass it in nearly all scenarios. With vision/Lidar I think it has the capability to be superhuman.

Saw a Waymo testing on the turnpike near Miami back in May. I didn't like driving there myself much less riding in something without a driver.

That would be pretty wild to see alone. I thought all the locations they can provide service are very limited within the city.
