I was returning home from a Christmas trip. Bluecrise was on and working. All the sudden it started alarming that face blocked. (note, no change to my looking ahead or any other self cause) It turned on my emergency flashers. I tried to disengage but it wouldn't work. It stated stuttering as if it was brake tapping or there were small bump strips on the interstate. I pulled of the interstate. Turned it off and restarted truck (2023 Plat) . No problems after. The truck trying to slow its self down was disconcerting. Any idea why it would happen?
This is the final stage of the "you're not paying attention, so the system is going to disengage and be disabled" cycle.

Any chance that sun was directly hitting the IR camera on the A-Pillar? That's a common one.

I seem to have spectacular luck with the particular angles of the sun (generally early morning heading W/SW or late afternoon heading E/NE) that will blind this camera and start the pay attention cycle. I know it's the A-Pillar camera because if I put my hand up to shade the camera or put a piece of paper up to shade it, it will start "seeing" me again.

I've considered creating a keyhole aperture on the camera cover to prevent this issue, but I find so little value in the system that I haven't bothered to pick up $0.50 in black vinyl to create it.

Yet another well thought-out design from the BlewCruze team.

I vote for
1 - Sun glare/reflection on either your face or the camera
2 - You or the truck were momentarily possessed

This makes great material for a song but I want to stay positive.

5. Could have been sun, but wasn't paying attention to notice if that was the case.
What time of day was it, and what direction were you travelling? That might help determine if solar interference was a factor.

Given you've been using BC for several years, I'm guessing you know how the camera works, so this is something out of the norm, or you wouldn't have posted.

Agree with @Maxx, the reality is that it sounds like the camera interface glitched and hung if there were no external factors, and the only external factor that makes sense is solar interference. In all other cases, if you were trying to correct the problem, you probably would have shifted your position and been looking ahead to keep the truck on the road, so it seems unlikely that everything you tried would fail unless the camera was simply not available to BC or not able to see due to solar interference.

Happened to me once and it was definitely the sun. I have my front side windows tinted but the sunroof was cracked open and the sun hit the center camera just right. Scared the crap out of me until I realized what was happening. Kudos to Ford for figuring out how to get your undivided attention!
