Carplay with Apple Maps Updating location after finger "drag"

I have googled around, searched the forums and I have Carplay in my Chevy Bolt since 2019 and I still do not know the answer to the following.

When you have a route in progress on the iphone and put your finger on the Lightning display screen with the map open and drag the screen around to view something off to the side of the current active map, I can NOT get the current location screen to start updating again. It doesn't do this on my Chevy Bolt but it does it on the Lightning 2023 SR (small screen).

Any ideas how to get this updating my location again? I usually just reboot the display (overkill I know) but this is all I have been able to figure out!!!

Recenter button should appear once you start dragging the map off the planned track.
Tapping it will put your tracking location back to the route.

(this works with Google Maps and Ford native maps) not a carplay/apple user.

Correct. For CarPlay, after dragging away from your route the recenter button (NE-facing compass arrow) should appear which should bring you back to your current position. It should also "time-out" after a short period and automatically reorient to your route.

Thanks, I will try that compass arrow icon out, I have not noticed that it "times out" and I have waited quite a bit of time (minutes)
