No. Only the v3 and above stations (v3 and v4 dispensers) will work with NACS adapters and non-Tesla vehicles. These are all 250kW or faster chargers.

The most reliable way to tell is to use the Tesla app to identify compatible stations. The Ford Pass app, PlugShare, ABRP, etc. will work as well but the Tesla app is the most reliable.
Those chargers looked like they'd been in the weather for some time so probably not the newest versions.

Absolutely the wrong way to go about it...

Anyone who may have a shoddy phone plan would have had this as a redundancy app in the event that it wouldn't work somewhere. And it's definitely saved my ass heaps of times.

What a terrible move.

Now all the app does is take you to the Navigation app to find chargers in-vehicle just for you to, what, not activate a charger? Lol
Yeah this was very badly handled.

I actually didn't even know till the other day when I went to a charger in an area that has a dead spot/spotty reception for my carrier (one of the three major carriers in Canada) and literally could not activate the charger so has to leave.

This will be an even bigger issue in places like national/provincial parks where cell service is spotty or non-existent at all and chargers are usually pretty sparse.

Update from Emily

  • We have heard the community’s feedback and thank you for raising that the sunset of the Charge Assist App has impacted the charging experience in some scenarios.
I really hope they bring this back, even if they do the bare minimum to have the truck activate chargers...cause the experience I posted above was very worrisome.

There's absolutely a way it can be done, just not certain that Ford SW devs are up to it unfortunately.

Ideally just having any charger you run into be Plug & Charge would be the best but doubt that'll ever happen.

Charge Assist/Public Charging was just a web portal designed for the truck. It should be extremely easy for Ford to revert the changes.

...Why haven't they is my question

Ok so today was my first experience since they turned off this feature. traveling I-5 from Seattle to LA and the I-10 to Tucson from LA I use the Tesla superchargers exclusively since they work and are plentifully along that route.

It’s totally useless now.

My use case was to select the next charger I wanted to navigate to and know just how much charge I needed to get there. As others have done, I only use Tesla superchargers since they actually work. I’m also a Tesla owner so I have their app on my phone and use the Tesla app to activate the charger to get the discounted charging price

without the old public charging app so far I find it virtually impossible to get the ford navigation to route me to a distant Tesla supercharger….. luckily I’ve traveled the current route enough times that I pretty much already know how much charge I’ll need and which chargers I’m going to use

I hope they bring back the old app

i love my lightning but the software is really it’s weak point
