Yesterday, I pulled into an Electrify America charging station. I still have complimentary hours left from when I purchased the truck, so I opened my FordPass app to start the charging session. However, after the app opened, all the normal information was blank. When I went to the Public Charging section in the Energy tab, it showed my station, but everything displayed as unavailable and "Activate" was greyed out. In the truck's display, it showed the same thing. Odd, I thought. So I logged out of the app, closed the app, and restarted my phone. Same thing happened-- it wouldn't let me do anything, and the FordPass app wouldn't even show current state of charge. I shut down and restarted again-- same results. Someone was waiting on the spot, so I pulled out and let them get started.

After I parked, I opened the app again, and still blank data. So I then took the time to go up to the Notifications in the app-- who knows, maybe it was about an outage or something similar. Nope, it was just the notification that my 10,000 mile service was due soon. So I read the notification and backed out of notifications-- only to discover that the app was now showing all the data like normal, and the charging station information was updated.

Question-- has anyone else encountered this? It seems like the app would not let me do anything with it until I read a minor notification. Extremely irritating.

I know this is more of a FordPass category post, but it prevented me from charging using the app, so I posted it in this category, since that's the bigger fail.

Can't help with the FordPass issue, perhaps it was related to a update?

With Electrify America as well as the other charging companies listed in the "Blue Oval" network, I don't use the FordPass app at all when charging, I just plug-in and the truck is recognized and charging begins. I get the receipt and charging data sent to me that I later enter into my spreadsheet.

Ahhhhh ok cool.
And it was 250kWh of charging. At the rate back then of around 36 cents, it was worth about $90, plus tax. No biggie. We also got 22,000 FordPass points, worth $110.

I noticed last time I pulled up to an EA charger, instead of starting automatically with my set payment method, I had to go to the app and click which charger I was on to start, then it worked fine, but, never had to do that before.

I've had a case a couple of weeks ago where the Plug and Charge switch got turned off inadvertently, somehow through an update or other hiccup. I couldn't charge for about an hour while I was talking to the FordPass support guys because the switch in FordPass simply wouldn't turn on. It magically started working again 10 minutes after I hung up with the fellow. The modem was connected the whole time. I never got an answer for that one but I'm guessing it was a communication glitch between the FordPass servers and the Plug and Charge servers.
