- 2001 FORD RANGER, 2023 F-150 LIGHTNING
Always glad to share my knowledge.Thank so much for the detail info!! Since my knowledge of electricity is very minimal, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain what happened!! If I have any further issues, I will consider getting a new line put in but since the Lincoln has worked so well, and so trouble free, I am hoping for the best!!
However ... IF I were to do this, and add in a higher EVSE ... would that be a problem for the Lincoln? Or would I have to maintain two units at that point in time?
Cheers!!
Ken
No problem for the Lincoln assuming any new EVSE you get has a J1772 type plug - the Lincoln will not ask for more current than it's internal circuitry can handle.
I have a 2012 Nissan Leaf with a similar low-ish current on-board charger that I have used since I got it with a 30A 240V EVSE (GE Watt Station).
Some of the Ford EVSE's use a CCS1 which is the combo-plug on the Lightning (unless they've switched to the NACS/Tesla plug already). The CCS1 includes J1772 pins and adds 2 big pins for DC fast charging out on the road.
