Based on the announcement today, do you foresee any changes to BP going forward? It sounds like open pilot development will be shifting more toward the large models that normal C4 can't support without eGPU.

Not right now. I don't see the advantage for Ford's until we can get full torque. My focus is on the Torque Interceptor to unlock the torque. Once that is done, maybe a ford could take advtangage of an eGPU

Just pattern matching Comma's past work, but I'm so hesitant to buy Gen1 of their stuff.

Since the lightning isn't fully supported anyway, I'll probably hang back and let them distill some of the "good things" into the smaller model.

FWIW, SC Model is incredible. I fully trust it on roads where I used to have to engage briefly.

Yes, the Comma 4 will continue to be supported and developed. The team clarified that they are not abandoning the base device; however, their development efforts are shifting in a specific way:

• Continued Support: They stated that the Comma 4 is still a great device and will continue to receive software improvements (25:34 - 25:54).
• Distillation Strategy: The team explained that while they are focusing their innovation and research on larger Chestnut-class models, they plan to use techniques like distillation to bring the benefits of these larger models back down to the smaller models used by standard Comma 4 units (25:46 - 25:50).
• Resource Prioritization: They noted that they have limited development resources and will prioritize testing and training on the new Chestnut hardware because it is their "bleeding edge" platform. While the user experience on a standard Comma 4 will remain very good, the most advanced, high-compute capabilities will be exclusive to those with the Chestnut eGPU upgrade (29:58 - 30:15).

I switched to the SC Model on Monday after updating BP7 to the Aug 2026 hotfix, and made my commute to/from work Tuesday and Wednesday while calibrating the high & low speed tuning factors.

Took a 140 mile trip to my lake house on Wednesday evening, which consists of 110 miles of interstate driving and 30 miles of a rural two-lane windy road through the Adirondack mountains. The SC Model performed extremely well on both types of roads. FYI, the only exterior mod I have is a RealTruck tonneau cover.

I'm going to stick with SC Model on BP 7.

Tap Settings on your large SYNC touchscreen display.Select Driver Assistance.
Tap on Cruise Control.Switch to Intelligent mode (or ensure Speed Sign Recognition / Speed Limit Assist is toggled on).
Setting Your Speed ToleranceWithin the same cruise control menu, select Tolerance.
Use the Plus (+) and Minus (-) icons on the screen to choose how many miles per hour over or under the detected speed limit you want the truck to travel.
Activate your Adaptive Cruise Control on the highway, and the truck will adjust its set speed automatically as it detects new posted limit signs.

I did follow that, but still the truck won't change speed. even if the posted speed sign is already displayed on the instrument cluster.

I'm pretty sure you have to set it up on the truck for it to work.
