2024 Ford Lightning Flash ER
I’m sure there’s many of these types of posts, but here goes. I primarily bought the truck (24 flash ER) because I liked it, believed that the technology had progressed enough to make it worthwhile. Most important in the decision was the understanding that this was a to and from work vehicle or around the area within the driving range vehicle. This wasn’t for me to attempt to hypermile or test the length time between charges, etc.

While I am happy with my purchase, the realistic range doing 99.9% highway (not interstate, 70 and below mph) is not too bad. My daily commute is 56 miles round trip. Depending on how many days a week that I work 4 or 5, it usually nets one charge per week. My usual 100% gom is 280-290 miles of range. My average is usually 2-2.3 kWh/mi.

I have found that speeds above 70mph absolutely kill range, but you see similar behavior in ICE. Likewise speeds below highway as a sustained speed increases range. I have seen numbers 3-4 kw/mi on charges, but most of my driving is highway. I also run the ac enough to keep it cool and the average ambient temperature here in Arkansas is quite warm and very humid most everyday.

Don't know if there are a ton of these threads, but... yup. Sounds pretty much like exactly the performance many of us see.

Sounds similar to me. My commute is 52 round trip. Because of driveway logistics, it is far easier for me to charge at home on Tuesday or Friday night (the other car is normally gone overnight). I normally charge at home to 85%. It takes about 18% of my ER battery for a round trip to work. More of that in the morning as I spend a good part of it at full freeway speed whereas the drive home is much slower due to traffic. Currently I attempt to get one of the level 2 (6.6 KW) charge stalls at work if one is available because it's free. These are public chargers so there is a lot of demand for them. If I know I am going to take a long drive over the weekend I will charge higher at home on Friday night (as much as 100%). In 7867 miles, I have charged at fast DC chargers a total of 10 times - all on longer day drives except for a couple before I installed a 240 volt outlet and later a FCSP at home..
Like the OP, I am very happy with my Lightning.

This is similar to how most people use a vehicle, myself included. I've towed a trailer outside the range of my truck exactly once since I've owned it and that was only because I didn't leave with a full charge. I'm not shopping for a Powerboost because I realize this is an edge case for me.

Similar numbers to me. I'm in Wisconsin and it's been a warm sticky summer here, so A/C is on most days. I can sometimes get 2.2 m/kwh but generally see 2.0 with combined 55mph (80%) and 70+mph (20%) driving to work.

Commute 80 miles one-way to work (3x per week), 160 round trip.

I charge to 90% at night, I have the Charge Station Pro at home. My commute to work consumes about 25% SOC. I happen to work at a location that has a free public charger in the ramp (6kWh) that can get me back to 90% by the end of the day for FREE. Then I drive home and top off overnight.

In the last 60-days, my total home charging has been 1700kWh (over 60-days) which is just under $170 for me. Compared to my ICE F150 which ran around $425-450/mo for fuel.

Still waiting to see what Wisconsin winters do to my range, but I feel confident I will be happy year-round with this truck.

My local commute in WI is 9-10 miles one way, with speeds below 55 (unless I decide to rip some rubber on the country roads), and most is 35 and under. Winter I get around 1.8-2.2, but summer I’m closer to 2.8-3.6, depending on conditions. Summer I can easily beat the ER range of 320, and at 90% charge too.

I’ve done some highway/interstate roadtripping, and typical for me is 1.8-2.2, but I’ve seen as low as 1.0 in the winter.

In addition to speeds above 70, this truck hates headwinds, so winter interstate driving in a headwind is not the truck’s forte. I’ve only had to do so a couple of times, and near enough to home that range was not an issue.

I’ve fast-charged 3 times in 16 months, and only enough to get home.

So far the Lightning has been a great vehicle, and matches my daily use case perfectly.

If I go 69 mph I get 2.2 mi/kwh and if I go 72 mph I get 1.9-2.0 mi/kwh.
