I recently experienced a failure of my electric cabin heater. This same failure generated a safety recall for some 2022 and 2023 Lightnings due to not having a defroster for the windshield. This morning the combination of a fogged windshield and a non-working cabin heater demonstrated to me why it's a safety issue. I couldn't wipe the condensate off my windshield fast enough.

I was unable to drive my truck. Luckily I hadn't made the turn onto the main road. Also, the sun wasn't shining on my windshield, which would have made my windshield totally opaque.

I've come up with a temporary solution that will also serve as an emergency heat source in case I get stranded on the road in cold weather or in case the cabin heater fails, and a fogged windshield makes the truck un-driveable.

I'm using a 350W space heater. It's enough to do the trick. You could use a 900 to 1200W heater as well. The accessories receptacle is capable of 20A.

I have scheduled to have my truck to be fixed, but it will be a couple of weeks before they can even get to it. In the meantime, I can now drive my truck safely.

I recommend you put a small space heater in your emergency tool box for your electric vehicle.

Useful idea. I do have a 200 watt heater in the frunk that I use with a short interval timer to let the PPO stay on with the truck off and low or intermittent loads. I could use that if needed easily enough for emergency heat.

My very first car was a two door 1977 Mercury Monarch - I had to install a small (12vot) heater and fan for the rear glass, since it would fog up but there was no HVAC/defrost system for the rear glass in that car...small heater with built in fan would be a great idea for this truck...{I wonder if my Monarch was actually wider than a Lightning...I know it's not but the long thick doors made getting in and out of that car in a parking lot a real challenge...back in the day. lol }
