Hi, I have a slight problem and would appreciate some ideas. When I bought my vehicle I used, from a Ford dealer, I signed up for extended coverage. I did not do my due diligence at the time and have later found out it is through a 3rd party company that has a lot of 'bad reviews'.
I got a cal from a person that says they represent Ford Motor Co. With an offer for extended coverage. I would prefer to have coverage under Ford's umbrella than some fly by night insurance company that does nothing but deny claims.

Is this a legit Ford offering?

Cancell the 3rd party contract and get a refund.

The guy that called you is likely legit and his offering is legit, BUT they will charge you list price. Unless you are in California or Florida you can buy the same warranty with a discount from Granger Ford at https://grangerfordextendedwarranty.com/ (California or Florida don't allow discount dealers to sell extended warranties to their residents)

It is the exact same warranty and good everywhere.

@flyct is dead on. I will add to check FloodFordesp.com. I got our Focus Electric ESP through them, and not only was their initial service great, but when we sold the FE we got a refund of the prorated value of the ESP really quickly.

Granger is great, but there are a few dealerships that sell the Ford ESP and it's good to check around like anything, even though they will mostly be within probably $10 of each other.

We had to use the ESP on the Focus Electric to replace the steering rack. Saved us about $4k between parts and labor, and then we got about 80% of the original purchase price of the ESP back on the prorated refund. I know everyone has opinions on ESPs and I share a lot of them, but Ford's in my experience seems pretty solid.

Just know it isn't a 1:1 to the bumper to bumper. For example, if you have a problem where the rear window bounces back when using auto up, which we also had on the FE, the bumper to bumper would handle that at no cost, but Ford considers that a "calibration" issue if the module and that is otherwise fine, and the ESP won't cover it.

You can do the calibration at home and I did it in about five minutes once I looked it up, so no big deal, but it made me aware that while the ESP covers a ton, it isn't an exact continuation of Bumper to Bumper.

Insurance pays for damage to your vehicle when it’s in an accident

Warranty covers breakdowns, and defects

So, are you talking about extended warranty or are you talking about insurance?

so, to best define the differences in what some folks might accidentally say, or assume, is 'insurance'... let's look at the differences in what 'protects' your truck, your investment:

A) MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY: This is from the factory, and protects against mechanical, electrical, software, electronics, and other conditions, within a timeframe, or mileage limit. Generally you have NO COST for any repairs or replacements while under this warranty.

B) EXTENDED Warranty, or better yet, a "Service Contract", or a "Repair Protection plan", basically covers very similar items, due to age, breakdown, mileage, wear and tear, etc., but actually have NOTHING to do with the original warranty, and are handled by THIRD PARTY companies who 'manage' the process. These can come with varying degrees of additional fees, though, such as deductibles, or lower payouts if you don't use their 'preferred' shop, etc, and may not cover everything that a manufacturers original warranty would.

C) INSURANCE is not to be confused with a Service Contract or Repair plan, as those companies have NO authority to provide any true 'insurance'. Insurance provides Auto LIABILITY and other components, as a factor of accidents and damages while operating a vehicle, and REPAIRS or REPLACEMENTS for covered accidental damage, whether while/by driving/operating the vehicle, or from others outside of the control of the owner, such as animal/deer collisions. NONE OF THIS has anything to do with warranty repairs, or repairs due to age, wear and tear, mechanical issues, etc.

so, you don't buy 'insurance' from any dealer, that can ONLY come from an Insurance Company. You might buy a Service Contract/Repair Protection Plan from a dealer, which is simply a CONTRACT...but NOT insurance. These 'companies' are also not under insurance laws, and, as such, is what sometimes leads to their being perceived negatively as 'they just deny claims'... there is really no one looking over them, like there is for Insurance policies.

note; even Ford's "Extended Warranty" is actually called their 'Extended SERVICE Plan'... it does NOT extend the original warranty.
also; Ford's Extended Service Plans start at the original Warranty start date, which means it runs CONCURRENT with the already existing Ford FACTORY WARRANTY, and ends when the contract says. So, for example, if you purchased a Ford Extended Service Plan at the time of your original vehicle purchase, with a 60 month term, you are really ONLY buying the extended service plan coverage for anything that happens AFTER the original warranty expires, such as 36 months: you are paying then for a plan that 'works' for 24 months, three years in the future.

I had the same issue, the Dealer F/I person, although didn't say it but inplied it with the Dealer Ford Logo on top of the first page. After reading it a couple weeks later, I called the company and explained that due to the complexity of an EV (2023 Plat) that I would rather go through Ford. I was surprised, they refunded the whole amount as it was within 30 days.

Went to Ford.com and added a long warranty (86 months)

If you don 't mind me asking, which company is it? I bought a used 2022 XLT ER and the original buyer bought a warranty through ProGuard. Which transferred to me but I have to figure out whether I buy the Ford one anyway.

I had another company “Concord Auto “ for another truck. They were crooks. They were terrible on a claim, had something go bad with a 4 wheel drive part and refused to pay because the part was not described as a certain part. The dealer could not believe it. I sold my old truck and was suppose to get a refund, they avoided me for ever I finally game up. I looked them up on google and found out that the Pa attorney general was investigating them. This truck I bought Granger
