Eyes on road

Ok, I’m over 6 ft tall with long legs. When I am in Lane Following the truck complains that my eyes aren’t on the road when my hands are in the 10-2 position in the wheel. I have to move them to the bottom of the wheel!
Is there a hack on the little camera to over come this shorter than me problem. ( my wife is 5’3” and isn’t bothered!

Watch the position of your right hand/arm. It's probably blocking the sensor.

Disable all that nonsense. I have a small dog that likes to sit in my lap and it was complaining about the same thing. Fords implementation of this is really bad IMO.

Well that's just nonsense. Probably shouldn't be driving around with a dog on your lap.

Easiest thing to do is move your hand, next easiest thing is move the wheel down and/or away from you and your seat up.

I'm almost 6'4" and had a similar issue at first. Now I never get the warning unless I'm actually not looking at the road.

This is 100% still an issue. Ford ignored the engineers on the project and only integrated a single in cab camera for this functionality. If they had enabled another camera for watching the face on the driver door side instead of just the one next to the center dash, this wouldn't be an issue.

You will note that the issue is more problematic in the Spring and Fall when the sun is at a lower angel causing the camera to not be able to detect the eyes of the driver. Again, a camera on the opposite side would be able to see that the driver is still alert when the current camera isn't able to validate.

I can generally get the system to work for a while longer when I move the visor all the way forward against the windshield. This is how you know it is related to the light from the sun. But even this can't resolve the issue in certain light conditions.

When even the dog is complaining about you not watching the road, perhaps it's time to - you know - watch the road.

Plus there's numerous reason why having a dog in your lap while driving is a really bad idea, but I'm sure you know already.

What are the camera's on the driver door near the A pillar for? I thought they were part of that system. Same IR cameras that are on the dash.

It's only an illuminator on that side. The system works fine as long as it can see you.

A handful of people can't figure it out.

Never had an issue when I still had blue cruise. Not paying so much for something I might use once or twice a year.
