The "or worse” can be much, much worse. Anyone interested can look up “airbag degloving.” But they should know it’s not a pleasant sight. If you don’t know what it is, I highly recommend not finding out. One great way of not finding out is by moving your hands to the 3 and 9 o’clock positions instead of the 2 and 10 positions.

Steering wheel and hand. Also, if you're leaning towards the left side it's even worse. Not to mention there are sunglasses that make the cameras job harder too.

As I originally stated, its none of those. Changing the Sun Visor position from its typical stored position to fully forward against the windshield typically resolves the issue, unless the suns position is too low on the horizon.

The steering wheel doesn't move, so I don't see how that could be related to when it works vs when it doesn't. Since it is hands free driving, there are no hands in the way. I'm not wearing sun glasses. Left to right head movement generally doesn't resolve. If the visor doesn't resolve, the only other thing that works is forward head movement, reducing the distance between the IR camera and the eyes.

It's not a permanent issue. It is an issue that occurs at times, and it is more pronounced during the spring and fall when the sun is lower in the atmosphere. Again, if Ford had incorporated a second camera on the drivers door side of the dash, the second camera would be able to correctly see that the driver is fully alert and looking forward when the existing IR camera is unable to detect objects because the light spectrum of the sun overpowers its sensor.
