Flaking on Lightning Front Grille

Its funny how people rail against the CT for issues but then when reports come out about Lighting issues people resort to comments like yours. Why even go there? Nobody said anything about the CT.

New to this whole truck thing? As long as there have been trucks there have been truck owners making fun of other trucks. We're all just eight year old boys.?

Yeah, I know. It just gets a little boring and old especially when some of us own more than one manufacture.

It's called a joke. It was a lighthearted quip about another EV truck. Should I not have resorted to a joke about another EV truck with issues while working through the issues I have with my EV truck. Would it have been better if I said it's still better than a Rivian R1T?

I do feel bad for those having the chipping on the upper and lower grill, and I think it's a platinum issue level of painted parts.... but honestly I have been patiently waiting long enough for one you to get so pissed off that you sit there and peel the rest of that black paint and let us see the massive upper grill and lower trim all chromed out.

Definitely would be cylon/terminator vibe and peoples brake lights reflecting off the chrome at night all red like... Priceless.

But again. I am sorry you have to deal with this...

Fun fact: platinum is a relatively soft metal which is why it makes sense that Ford names it's most comfy vehicles "Platinum".

I better not hear anyone else call my truck soft though. It's tough...TOUGH!

Platinum is self repairing though. At the microscopic level, the metal platinum will rearrange the atoms to repair and fix deep gouges.

This is interesting, because I'm interested in adding chrome details to my Lightning Flash, and I was thinking about whether there is a way to make the grille chrome. I wonder if I can find a used Platinum grille that is already flaking.

I was thinking the same, I have to wonder why Ford would use chrome then paint over it. That's why the paint is flaking off like it is, paint doesn't stick to chrome very well unless there's a lot of prep work involved before hand, local body shop paint guy told me that when I inquired about painting over chrome.

Found this while viewing some used lightings...

Now we have our answer to what the grill and the lower trim would look like after all the paint has been chipped off...

I think it makes the lightning blend in even more to the f150 line up.

Yep, that is exactly what I'm aiming for. I just need to find someone who wants to part ways with their old chrome grille since I own a F-150 Flash (which only has black plastic)
