Compared to non-EVs? Uhhh....
My 2023 Lightning Lariat ER costs more to insure than my 2018 Porsche 911 Targa, on the same policy with the same limits.

My 23 Lightning Platinum costs less to insure than my 2011 GMC Sierra SLT even though it has additional full glass coverage and a limited depreciation waiver for the first 5 years. Im not exactly sure why the premiums are less but i do know that my insurance company offers discounts for EV's, having multiple vehicles and being claims free.

I traded in a 12 year old Chevy Avalanche with 120,000 miles worth about $20k, cost me $90/month to insure. Sme coverage and brand new Lariat Lightning cost $99. no complaints here

My insurance has gone nuts. Now paying $1,200 every 6 months, haven't had a claim in almost 20 years, could be more. It's insanely ridiculous.

Can't easily compare numbers as individual circumstances vary, but in our case the premium on our Lightning isn't any more than any of our other cars. My premium is about half the largest premium posted in the thread so far. It's roughly the same as the premium for my wife's Lexus RX and my Land Rover.

I will say, I was paying 260.00 more a year for a 2019 Chevy Volt than I am for my 23 Lightning.

We have State Farm in Florida.

My Lightning is the MOST EXPENSIVE vehicle to insure that I own. The biggest difference is in the Liability premium. It costs over 2 times to insure vs my $100,000 2024 F-450 Platinum for Liability coverage. $426 vs $195 for 6 months just for liability coverage.

I also own 2 Tesla 2023 Model Ys and they cost 30% less than the Lightning to insure.

Here are the F-450 and Lightning break downs. Miles driven annually are both less than 7,500 miles. Same 77 year old driver with no tickets or accidents.
