Ordered via ford accessories and paid for the dealer install last week. Picked up this afternoon installed. Fitment with the tailgate and head of the bed look good but up close I noticed it is not perfectly parallel with the bed. May need to tweak it after a few days if I notice water intrusion from the storms about to hit the Midwest later this week. Looks slick and I like the additional security requiring a key to unlock it with a physical key.

Awesome - did you get a warranty page to ensure water tightness?
I have a similar fit - matched the coloring of Oxford white.

That’s a great tint on your truck, the bed has storm trooper vibes!
What % did you go with for the tints?

I have the same one- installed by the dealer. Water intrusion for sure when it rains. I wasn't aware these were supposed to be waterproof.

I had this exact cover on my Tremor. Kept having some issues (and I expect you may as well) with the alignment during opening or closing. What happens is the brackets that hold the railing on shift with the movement of the truck bed, causing the cover to bind when opening. Retrax sent me updated brackets to correct the problem. It didn’t.

My suggestion is to verify that the cover rolls back and forth freely and maybe once a month or so check the clamp bolts for tightness. When those things bind up it may not open or close at all and if you you force it too hard, it can cause a little damage to the tracks. I installed mine so I have a good idea how it all works.

This cover is working great for me. Nothing is 100% secure but the firm construction in lock provides protection against grab and go. Did a video production yesterday in San Francisco and got tons of compliments on my truck.

On another note when I bought my truck at the beginning of March, I too ordered it from Ford accessories to be installed by the dealer. It arrived damaged to the dealership and had me cancel my order. I ordered one from Amazon which arrived perfectly and I installed it in 30 minutes.

I have taken this through car washes and very minimal water intrusion. You may know this, but the trick there is to angle the railings up is hard as you can, as you tighten the brackets and that allows the channel to direct the water away from the slats. Anyway, hope you like your cover.

im still waiting for my refund four months later…

Scott, it’s a great cover if you can get the kinks worked out. Retrax told me that it was a known issue with the shifting of the tracks and had updated clamps specifically for that problem.

I think if you use your truck lightly for hauling or just everyday functions you’ll be good. If you do any kind of off-roading then you have articulation or twisting of the truck bed and maybe that’s causing the shift. I ended up going with the Bakflip cover on my new Lightning. I didn't wanna deal with the issues. Glad yours had worked well.

In my experience with several pickup trucks over the year, all the covers leak at least a small amount depending on the rain, wind speed etc.

Adding automotive weather striping can help keep it to a minimum though nothing is perfect.

For my 2023 Lightning Pro I got a Tyger Auto cover (tri-fold) which has worked pretty well so far. For about $200 I can't complain. At first I noticed small amounts of rain got in at the front, but I added some more stick on foam weather striping and that solved it.

I would not say it is completely waterproof, but no major leaks.

They are, but nothing is 100%. If you get significant water intrusion it may be pitched incorrectly. The installation instructions specify a pitch to allow water to drain properly away from the bed.

Late in 2025's fiscal year - and technology has us with tonneau covers that still leak - seems so 1980's! I'd always been in large SUV's - so the leaking bed cover dilemma is bizarre.

I have a retrax from Ford and it leaks like crazy. I readjusted it as best I could but after a good rain the bed soaked. Water is coming in from seemingly everywhere. I’m considering replacing it with something else. It also takes up way too much bed space. Trade offs aren’t worth it.

Read my mind. Hindsight being 20/20, id have gone in a different direction. That being said, I love the way it looks, and have incorporated the rail/track system of the Retrax into cargo and bike racks above the bed, which i absolutely love.

The only upsides for me are the way it looks and the fact that you can lock it in infinite positions. The latter I have only utilized a handful of times. That said the locking mechanism is a joke as apparently there are only like 6 different keys for this thing. A prepared criminal could own all of them for a few bucks and open any retrax out there šŸ˜†.
