Hello All,

I wanted to reach out to see if anyone with Forscan can check for a setting to see if its available on our trucks. I was talking to a guy over the weekend i ran into that had a 24 lightning and we got to talking about stuff we like and dislike. One of the things i mentioned was during the summer months here in Florida if i dont turn the A/C off a few minutes prior to my arrival it will develop a mildew musk smell the next time i turn the truck on briefly. The guy mentioned he had the same issue until a friend of his turned on a setting on his truck for him. He said it was called Electronic Finish 3, described it as climate control afterblow that makes the truck idle with the A/C off for a few minutes automatically when the truck is turned off with the A/C on prior to OFF.

I don't have a Windows Laptop to see the full FORSCAN, because i have a mac and the Mac Lite version has many functions missing i have read.

I am curious if someone can check to see if this is a setting possible to enable. If it is i will invest money in a cheap windows laptop so i can enable this function.

Hmmm, this is the first I’ve heard of this setting. I’m not saying it isn’t a thing, but I’ll be following this to see what others say.

Never heard of Electronic Finish 3. The F150gen14 forum has always been ahead of us so check there. There are a few threads where they attempt to make recirc last longer. Maybe that’s what your buddy was referring to?

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/solved-extending-hvac-recirculation-times.40851/. (They change a parameter to ”3”)

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/hvac-forscan-options.22839/

I didn’t search very long. If it’s there @rugedraw or @Jesse-Infotainment will know. They hang out there a lot more than any of us.

Never heard of such a thing. I dug through the spreadsheet in the APIM, HVAC, PCM and BCM to see if I found anything, but nothing with that verbiage.

FOR WHAT ITS WORTH...
A google search says that "climate control afterblow" is a thing that can be turned on with FDRS citing a FaceBook post - I don't do FB so I did not go further with the search.

"In your Ford F-150, the climate control "afterblow" is a maintenance feature that automatically runs the A/C blower fan at a low speed for a short period after you turn off the vehicle. Its primary purpose is to dry out the A/C evaporator core and eliminate trapped condensation, which prevents the growth of mold and bacteria that cause musty, mildewy odors inside your truck's cabin.

While the afterblow function exists in the software of many Ford F-150 HVAC control modules, it is often disabled from the factory.

If you notice a stale or musty smell when you first turn on your A/C, you can have your dealer or a mechanic enable the afterblow feature using an automotive scan tool (like Ford's IDS or FDRS)."

I’m following. I have noticed this smell as well. I replaced my cabin air filter due to this smell and it was gone for a few days, but then came back.

@Mike G Any chance you can plug your truck in and see if you find anything in the HVAC guided routines in regards to this? If so, we can compare the HVAC ab data before and after to see what it changes. I looked through the HVAC spreadsheet line by line and there are a few things that stood out, but nothing that was completely obvious to me.

What about "Ultra Fresh Cabin Strategy (UFCS)"

The Ultra Fresh Cabin Strategy (UFCS) is a background software function in the Ford F-150’s climate control system. It manages the HVAC to reduce stale odors and prevent moisture/mildew buildup inside the cab. It automatically toggles between fresh air and recirculation based on humidity and drive time

One guide I found says:

If available in Plain-Text: Look for "Afterblow" or "Electronic Finish 3", select it, and toggle it to Enabled/Disabled.

But I haven't seen any info on how to enable it in the as built format

Other sources say it is not a feature that is inherent in F-150's and to do things manually:

Turn off the A/C and run the blower for some time, for example, which will bring the evaporator up to ambient temp and eliminate condensation.

I did see there is an aftermarket thing you can install that can provide the afterblow - the video is for a GM vehicle:

But these are an old-school solution, now the logic is built in to GM vehicles so I have read anyway:

Here's the kit:

OEM GM 1986-2016 After Blow Temperature Control Module 12497910

I sure hope someone can figure this out. I really wish i knew a way to get back in contact with the guy again to get more details. I figured it would be known online if i just asked the masses.

This sounds like a different thing than After Blow (runs fan when turning truck off). My understanding is the truck already toggles recirc off after a period of time for air quality/moisture reasons.
