Is it normal for the frunk to make really loud pops and snaps when it opens? I know it’s different, but compared to every rear power lift gate I’ve ever used, it’s really loud. It reminds me of when I overload the back of the van and it’s under a bind when it releases.

Edit: ‘22 Lariat ER, new to me 3 weeks ago, frunk has always sounded like this.

Ford's mobile team couldn't figure out my Frunk problem, so I have to take the dumb thing in. The recall software update only made it worse, so now it only unlocks via the remote and no other method, nevermind not powering up and down. Stupid stupid frunk lids.

Mine pops as the latch releases, always has. Slow as all get out, and very finicky on how/when it decides it will open.

The frunk has always been a love/hate relationship for me. Mostly I love it. The space, the utility, etc is awesome. The beep, slow open/close, the sudden stop when trying to manually close it, and, the most infuriating is pushing the close button and after it is almost closed, putting the truck in gear sends an error and does not finish closing the frunk. WHY?!? This is most infuriating
when dropping people off at the airport and thinking it is finished to get out of the busy terminal...bam, have to stop and put it in park to finish closing it.

and, the other one that is confusing, when you are preconditioning the cabin, the frunk has to be closed. again, WHY?!? This is the most ICE thing you can do for the truck. What is in the Frunk that would cause the Conditioning to shut down?

So, I should just expect to take mine in and ask for a rental car b/c they are going to have it for a while?

I also always get the pop when the latch releases. I believe the latch sucks the front of the funk lid in tight to seal the frunk from the elements and the pop is the latch just releasing that. Perhaps a slightly better latch design would eliminate the pop but 2.5 years and mine sounds the same.

Yes, I have a 2022 and it’s pretty load mechanical sounding process when it opens and closes. The latching system seems to operate in very loud manner.

But if the truck is on and you open the frunk the A/C stays on. ???

Mine sticks on the latch about 80% of the time.. if I help it past the latch with a few pounds of upwards force, or if it's one of the magic times when it makes it past the latch on its own, then yeah it's quite noisy. Mechanical pop or two, some metal on metal grinding sound, and then the e-strut whine.

Parts made it to the dealer, appointment to have installed is next week. I honestly don't care much about the noise. I just want it to open reliably, not need assistance, and most importantly not get confused about it's position if I accidentally help it up a little too much.

Interesting, anyone know if there is a difference between the 2022/2023 Frunk operation and the 2024/2025 operation? - I mean it clicks and pops up a bit, and is kinda slow, but doesn't make "that much" noise really, nor does it get stuck - maybe over time starts to wears out?

{my wife just loves to double click the frunk open button as we approach the truck with a cart full of groceries - especially if there is some older dude near-by, since they will inevitably ask "do you need some help with your truck...Ugh! Where Is Your ENGINE' ? lol}

That sounds like where I’ll be in a week…please keep us in the loop!

The Frunk does pop and groan and creek on opening and closing. It's not a smooth silent operation one might expect.
