I did my calibration backed into my garage which is at a higher level from the street. I'm wondering if I should do it over on the street level or in a parking lot

Trying to find out info on the headlamp calibration, without specifics found...does the calibration need to be done at nightime? As in does it use info bouncing back light from wall or simply mechanical (can be done anytime/anywhere)?

Greg, thanks for the info, I searched on this but could not find a hit. That is exactly what I'm seeing. Strange that the XLT did not exhibit that on mine
It was the IPMA update released at the end of 2023 that changed the behavior of glare free lights, so it is possible your 2022 still had the older software.

There is no adjustment that I'm aware of and what you describe is a change made by Ford. There are other threads where this was noticed and discussed. The first couple of years we had them activated it was a very smooth perfect transition. A year or so back there was a SW update and it altered them. The transition is not as smooth, you can almost see the pixels turning on and off.
There is a GFHB Fade Away (or move away?) setting in one of the sheets. Its a time, and iirc mine are all set to zero (aka, instant turn off)

Edit:
6f6-05-05 xxxx xx** xx-- GFHBSpot_MovAway_FadeTime_Cfg (GFHBSMAFTC) • Milliseconds = Hex2Dec(**)

And the one right above it is
GFHBSpot_Deactive_FadeTime_Cfg (GFHBSDFTC)

Question — Has USDOT come out with its standard for the Gare Free headlight? I recall that it was authorized by Congress, but has the rulemaking been concluded?

My concern is that US lighting standards are different from Canada and the EU. When I expressed interest in having the change made to my truck, the dealer cautioned that doing so would be to the Canadian standard - which could adversely affect future updates to the truck if the mothership then thought the truck was a Canadian spec vehicle.

I compared the XLT with the Lariat and there are no meaningful difference in the LDCMA or HCM that would account for the differences you observe.

Its possible, although I think unlikely, that something in the BCM could have an effect, however there are so many differences in the BCM between the two trucks I'm not comparing each difference.

Dealers don't do Forscan changes.

The unwritten rule (now its written?) is that you don't bring up Forscan to dealers. It's like the first rule of Fight Club.

Dealers default to "No". They have to. You'll get all sorts of excuses and panic scenarios and "You can void your warranty" blather because you are modding your vehicle. Technically, you are hacking, maybe just a little. The dealer will blame anything not working on your completely unrelated Forscan modification of turning an option on that already exists in the vehicle and is suppressed by software.

Yes, you are enabling an option that comes on Canadian trucks with this mod. Does the mother ship now think that you are in Canada? Who knows? Ford can't even figure out how to add Tesla charger loactions into their built in mapping, so.... I'm not overly confident in their ability to send out ANY software update.

If you head down the Forscan/modding rabbit hole, be prepared to return everything back to normal before a dealer visit, or just learn how to navigate your interaction with the service department and be able to investigate and troubleshoot issues before you bring your truck in to make sure your Forscan mods aren't the cause of the issue. If you are using Forscan, get proficient in FDRS too and learn to take care of most issues on your own or learn to push back on the service dept when needed.

Or, just learn to be happy with all of the stock options. Don't even change your tire size, it'll void your warranty..... ;).
