Thanks I think that’s the way I’m going - we’ll see how the lid opens and closed when I have in the back seat.
i just did this over the weekend. It’s fine. Just tight enough. I put a ratchet strap around the lid and cut the excess. Works great to pull up quickly.

I bought a Dometic to go camping and my Rubicon just didn't quite make it with one battery and me being alone in the middle of the desert.
It now lives in the Lightning and stays on in the truck full time. Nothing like a big battery. I'd be careful getting too cheap and trusting internet warriors. LOL
Cheers

We’ve been using these for 2 problem free years. We use the smaller one In in the Frunk as a freezer set to 0 deg and the bigger in the truck bed set to 33 deg. When using them in the Lightning we connect them to 120 vac. We also use them in my Tesla Model Y in the back connected to the 12 vdc port.

I have a SIMZLIFE 75L fridge I keep in my bed. It's huge, I can unload a 40 pack of water bottles and still have room easily for 20-25 different drinks. I keep it always on via solar panels so I don't have to worry about pro power shutting off

I’ve had an ICECO for years now. Same great SECOP compressor as Dometic but much cheaper. Build quality is fantastic and very cool design features across its models. Mi pro has a lid that opens bi-directionally

We have the ICECO VL60. We had one that we sold with a travel trailer and regretted including it in the sale. So we got another. It is incredibly efficient, especially when on DC, so I run it off our power station 12V outlet and charge the power station from solar or the truck, depending on need.

Serious question....

I have a Yeti and a Bison Cooler that I use for for trips. I usually use one or the other (Yeti 45 vs Bison 50). I find these to be much better as I really only need to add ice after 3-4 days. These also do not require the compressor space. So with this said, why would someone get an electric cooler over a Yeti (type cooler)? I could see if camping for 5+ days, but for a road trip? After 3ish days you can get a couple bags of ice for relatively cheap, and it's not using any battery.

I'd love to hear some feedback. No hate either way, just curious.

We keep Frunk cooler at -4 dF. The ice cream stays sold for the 3 hour trip between home and cabin. The trunk cooler at 33 dF keeps fridge food and drinks safe and cold.

If it were used as a beverage cooler temp wouldn’t be critical.

I have a 12v, for my semi. I’m home every day, so I stick it with drinks, put my lunch or cold snacks in it etc. I started out with a small cooler, putting ice in it. It worked, but dealing with wet packaging, or simply having to protect from the water is a chore.
Admittedly my use case is different than camping for fun, but the 12v makes the daily life better. As does my Lightning, the commute is a pleasant experience, but I’m preaching to the choir.

Yeah I could see in a semi. That is much different than a tripe once or twice a year. You live in that thing.

I can certainly understand for ice cream.

I have a Anker Solix Everfrost 2 40L strapped down in the bed. I leave it on 24/7 with their batteries. It’s plugged in so when truck is on, it charges the batteries. To always great to have instant cold drinks for kids sporting events!

I have the Bouge RV 30qt cooler and the Yeti Roadie 32.m. Bouge cooler plugs into frunk outlet and works like a champ. Yeti is usually strapped in the bed and keeps things nice and cool as well, using freezer packs. The combo works great for us.
