Just picked up 2 lightning Pros to add to my work truck fleet. Drove them from CA LAX - Phx yesterday. Noticed the one I was driving was having air conditioning issues when we got half way into the trip after the first Electrified America charging session in Indio. It dropped down to 25kw charge rate while the other truck stayed in the middle 100kw’s charge rate. Traffic was at a standstill on the i-10 and 110 outside and AC was just blowing hot air until I got it moving to above 20MPH. Does anyone know where the fuse for the condenser fan is located? It has zero fans running and the batteries actually got really hot with no fans running. When side by side to the other truck at the tesla supercharger it sounds like a jet taking off. Other truck has ice cold air, and fast charge rate.

I have checked every single fuse and all are good. Testing via a meter. At this point I belive its the fan itself or the relay/module that controls it. The fan is not spinning at all. Guess its going to the dealer on Monday.

Might be a problem with the coolant pump or valve. We have seen both of those be faulty.

Looks like a dealer visit. Good luck!

No codes? Contact Ford dealer for telemetry codes.

My guess is no refrigerant left or some other aircon problem.

Does the heat work?

You could try like the olden days and crank the cabin heat, fans full, windows down for the extra cooling.

Its 1000% the fans not turning on. It did throw the orange wrench light. I can put a box fan infront the truck and the air is ice cold.

Sounds like you bought them at South Bay Ford, 5 minutes from LAX.
What line of work are you using them for?
Would be ironic if you're an Hvac contractor?

Sounds like you nailed it with the.fan diagnosis. 40 amp fuse is a heck of a fan. Probably 1/2 hp.

These are out of a large national fleet but not from a dealer. I am in construction so these are perfect for our needs.
I have fixed and replaced all components of home and automotive AC though so pretty easy to troubleshoot.
I just dont like taking my stuff to a dealer unless its the last option.

The cooling system in the Lightnings is rather complex, as YouTube videos show.

But if it is just the fan not coming on, which is seems, obv it is either the fan (motor etc) itself, the wiring to the fan to give it power (since the fuse is ok) or the signal to activate the fan (a relay somewhere triggered by a sensor).

At some point I'm sure you will be checking those things, let us know what you find if you identify the failed component.

I agree dealerships are often the last resort, but if these Pros still have the bumper-to-bumper coverage, and the problem is not the result of an accident (something on the road broke a wire or plug, etc) then I'd be inclined to let them fix it on their time/dime.

Good luck.

Well took the truck in this morning to get looked at, and can you guess what happend? As soon as I pulled into the service bay the #(%*%$##@** ac fan turned on! LOL

No ac the whole way there, and then BAM, decided to start working. Good thing is they said the codes will be stored so maybe they will find something. Service advisor said a well placed rock will cause the front shutter to get stuck and not work.

That's how it normally goes. Hopefully they find the culprit.

I would buy a couple gallons of coolant & keep them in the frunk. The only time I ever had any issues with anything heating or cooling related was when my coolant was low, my heater was not working properly. As soon as I refilled it though, it's been normal, this was after the HV battery module replacement recall.
