I guess this was part of your learning experience with the truck. You got right into it without training wheels, out of the dealership's doors. So I can understand the frustration. But don't be discouraged for future road trips as the current EV infrastructure is way better than it was couple or more years ago. Now being able to use Tesla superchargers (with an adapter) gives you more flexibility. Fordpass plug & charge (blue oval network) allows you to use only one app for your charging session. Depending how often you need to DCFC you might not need to pay for a membership and use proprietary apps to get the discount. One additional apps you need is ABRP and/or plugshare for trip planning. In addition to Google maps that now integrate HVB SOC.
I hope you'll enjoy your purchase for years to come.

Ive had some learning curve with my used 23 lightning. Mostly knowledge based. But no technical issues. My truck is in shop getting the full system software update and some other updates. I had to press dealership to get warranty approval. My big issue was phone connectivity was horrible. Switching back and forth.

please update as you find solution.

and, see if you can get the big software update.

I’m going to bite the bullet and get the factory extended service contract. $5000. Yikes! Because everything should last for 300,000 miles. But all components are crazy expensive. Like you I really enjoy my truck.
A lot of us have phone connectivity glitches, plenty of threads about it, some say the software update helped but did not eliminate the problem completely. If it is any consolation, many other car brands have issues to - our 2015 Toyota Prius and on of our kids Subarus as well have issue with the BlueTooth.

I gave up trying to stream music to my Lightning with BlueTooth - many many drop-outs and disconnects - and now I use either an FM transmitter between the streaming and the FM radio, or a direct connection of a thumb drive or SSD (formatted in exFAT) with music files on it to the USB data port.

No trouble streaming at all only with my Apple phone. Today I got the truck back and they’ve done all these different updates. I should take a picture of it because it’s all initials and acronyms and it means nothing to me. But on my first first phone call the people on the other end were telling me they couldn’t hear me, but I have proven out that it’s not a bad signal where I was. And my Alexa and my Siri are gone.

Good luck getting it all working correctly, I don't have the patience to cope with buggy software.
I can live without AI telling me what to do, lol.

90% is when fast charging ends unless you override.

Exactly this. Lightning charges pretty well up to 80 percent, then drops to almost 60kW. It will stop at 90 percent unless you override and tell it to charge to 100 percent. At 90 it is charging at less than 30kW.

I think that there is now or will shortly be a UL listed DC fast charger adaptor. If I recall correctly, Tom Moloughney of State of Charge recently did a video on the subject.

Might want to consider a Ford ESP contract from a 3rd part seller such as Grainger. Pricing available online
I did get a FSP from the dealer, I brought print outs of the Granger prices and got nearly the same from them.

What's the Target Charge %?

Should be under Charging app in the infotainment.

Sounds like you just drove it 1400 miles. Did you have any other difficulty charging?
It was a 700 mile trip total, dealership to Albuquerque.

Based on the information folks have shared regarding 80% and 90% normal characteristics, I think I only had one pause/error that was unexplained (the one that messed up my brilliant plan to eat drink and be merry while it charged from 15% to 80-90%).

Craig, Do yourself a favor and buy a Tesla Fast Supercharger charger adapter. It makes road trips much easier since the reliability of Tesla Superchargers are the gold standard. You can buy it directly from Ford at https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...ng/how-do-i-get-a-fast-charging-adapter-nacs/

Alternatively the A2Z adapter is a good one. https://a2zevshop.com/ They also have a Level 2 NACS that you should buy for Tesla destination chargers

Definitely getting a Tesla adapter ASAP! I think there was only about two points along the way where this would have made a difference, but that would have made a pretty big difference in route/time usage.

Glad you made it.

- You can use many networks via FordPass, and not have to use the other apps (unless you want their membership discount).

- 90% is the DEFAULT built into the system to stop fast charging. You can override it, as the session is in progress, but you should really be stopping at 80% unless you can't make the next charger.
Good to know, and kind of what I thought at the beginning of the "adventure," but to date, didn't get figured out

One of the big "user error" things was that I still can't use the "Blue Oval" app. It asks for "yourCDSID"@ford.com" and a password. I don't THINK this got set up when I was at the dealership, but honestly with ALL of the things we had to do it may have and I don't remember. (There is no "sign up" or similar option that I see, so until I can figure out if I have a CDSID and what it is it is non-accessible.)

I don't know if that affects my FordPass experience or not, but the only function I could achieve with the FrodPass was to watch the basic charge info and lock/unlock the truck.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Charging app/infotainment. I'll go see if I can find that later today. I expected to have more information during the charging process than what I could see on the FordPass (miles of range, SOC, and projected time to 80%, 90% or 100%) but didn't know where to find it. Any idea why/how it determines between reporting 80, 90 or 100%? Obviously if its already over a particular level (like 80%) I understand reporting how long to the next higher level, but there were times it was at 20-25% and it would tell me how long to 100%, which was totally un-helpful regarding planning my schedule.

A couple of the last chargers I used displayed the # of kilowatts transferring, which was more like what I expected and appreciated as I could see the initial boost and exactly how much drop there was at 80% etc.

One Electrify America charger (350KW) told me it would take "5 minutes" to get to 80% when I was at about 30-40%. 15minutes later it still said it would take "5 minutes," I'm assuming this "5 minutes" was if the truck could have taken 350KW? I saw a max rate of 170KW.

At the time of my original post I was confused about the recent update that speeds up charging (compared to the first couple of years). Since I didn't own the truck yet I gave it a "speed read" and thought they accomplished it by pushing out the 80% slow-down to 90%, but now I understand that this threshold is unchanged, its a few KW more on the front end that changed, which I think the 170KW I saw means the truck has this update?

Regarding the "road salt":

I decided to tackle this yesterday, so got about $5 in quarters with the intent to head to the carwash. Then I decided to hit it with my own old pressure washer (that I cannot add soap etc. too anymore) too get rid of the worst of it first.

I spent 7hrs under the truck spraying!!!!!!

I'll start a new thread regarding this "adventure" and "learning experience."
