Just finished a 3600 mile road trip but nearly had it cut short when the dude tailgating me try to pass me while I was changing lanes. I thought there was an alarm that sounds if you try to change lanes with an obstruction. Am I wrong about this?

Yes, but there are limitations to it when you are lane changing - especially if the target vehicle also was lane changing. You, the driver are still responsible to look out for traffic.

I get that. I was just describing the situation which caused me to ask the question. So there is an alarm if I try to move to an occupied lane?

At least the blinky light on the mirror. I don't remember if there any more to it (like there is when backing). I'm used to driving cars without any blind spot monitoring so am used to being dependent on mirrors and looking (and I always add convex mirrors to each vehicle.

NO, there is no alarm. There is the BLIS light in the mirror, but nothing is audible.

The steering wheel will ad additional resistance but will not prohibit your lane change entirely.

Thank you. I didn’t remember ever hearing one on the Lightning but we have one on our CRV. I’ve heard that a few too many times sitting in the passenger seat of that car.😁
