FYI, new users cannot request a PIN until January'ish. Ironically, I just implemented mine a few weeks ago.

IP PIN unavailable: Nov. 16, 2025 – January 2026
The IP PIN service is unavailable in Individual Online Account during this annual maintenance period.

Please check back in January to get or view an IP PIN in your online account.
Yes, this is the time of year when they prepare for the new round, always this time of year.
Those who haven't enrolled already, can do so after the start of the year.

Yes, after my ID theft back in 2007 the IRS got around to issuing PINs, been using one ever since.

No, it will not precondition the battery on level 1.
It will keep trying to use the 1kW to warm the battery.
I'll admit it's been a while since I tested this so policies might have changed with more recent software updates, BUT back then....

The truck will not pre-condition on L1 charging, not even "try to" with 1kW.
The truck will however heat the battery on L1, with as much as it needs (even over 1kW)
IF you start the truck while it is still plugged in, the rest (beyond 1kW) will just have to come from the battery.

OP is grabbing data with an OBD, so my assumption is that the truck is on and so it will heat the battery if needed.

I'd be interested in re-running those tests once it gets a bit colder around here.

Agree if you equate Departure Time to Preconditioning. Heating the battery is preconditioning the battery for charging, and it will help if you really need those few extra miles to get home - otherwise pretty useless.
In the OP's case, the numbers in the app show 1.2kw usage (after losses), but they support the 1kw heater on for the 8 hours, so it does seem like the 1.2kw is split between running the heater at 1kw and putting the last few drops into the SOC for the charge period.
