They didn't reduce the battery size in the Platinum
I just noticed that. I had only looked at the flash and just assumed they reduced the platinum too. Thanks.
I wonder if they changed the platinum to the newer battery technology?

I am out of the 3 year / 36k miles based on milage. I have an extended warranty out to 5 years / 60 but it wasn't covered.
Sorry to hear that. I had my 3 yr/ 36k extended to the 8yr/ 100k. I figured it would cover most major issues.

Not sure how long Ford, GM, and Stellantis will last once the Chinese cars take over the rest of the world. This guy doesn't think it will be long. Tesla seems to be doing very well financially at this point.

If Ford kills the Lightning I won’t be getting another when my lease is up and will move on to something else. I leased it because it was very inexpensive and figuring there will be a “better” EV truck available in 2028, but now that is an uncertainty. With the current political climate I see a lull in EV development in the US for the foreseeable future. I could see myself in a Rivian R1T, or there may be plenty of used Lightnings to choose from when the time comes. The residual on mine is far too much to consider buying out the lease. Depending on my needs I may be looking to go back to a 3/4 ton when this lease is up.

I plan on upgrading my wife’s Tesla Y to a Juniper if it becomes financially advantageous later this year, otherwise we’ll probably keep that car long term since it’s paid off and we like it. It seems like Elon will be full speed ahead on making cool shit so those cars will keep getting better.

I bought mine in 2023. Lariat with everything. I love that big beautiful truck. I still think it’s a marvel. I am not worried about the future. It is a great truck.

People do go to China occasionally, so you don’t have to rely on the government for all of your news. In fact, I’m not sure where your news comes from because the only EV credit that China now’s has is for trading in an EV for an ICE vehicle. They know that they have a glut of EV manufacturers so they are not encouraging any more.

EVs are selling well because many areas will not let you license ICE vehicles (or make it difficult). They have really bad pollution due to their terrain in some areas and are trying to do something about it. They also do not have a native oil extraction industry which means that electrification reduces their dependence on other countries - and means that they don’t have as much of an oil lobby.
however China subsidizes all the Chinese EV manufacturers with billions.

problem is Ford counts a sale when vehicle is shipped to dealer and Tesla counts a sale when vehicle is registered to new owner.
but Ford posts it's data model by model every month. Telsla does not.
