They didn't reduce the battery size in the Platinum
I just noticed that. I had only looked at the flash and just assumed they reduced the platinum too. Thanks.
I wonder if they changed the platinum to the newer battery technology?

I am out of the 3 year / 36k miles based on milage. I have an extended warranty out to 5 years / 60 but it wasn't covered.
Sorry to hear that. I had my 3 yr/ 36k extended to the 8yr/ 100k. I figured it would cover most major issues.

Not sure how long Ford, GM, and Stellantis will last once the Chinese cars take over the rest of the world. This guy doesn't think it will be long. Tesla seems to be doing very well financially at this point.

If Ford kills the Lightning I won’t be getting another when my lease is up and will move on to something else. I leased it because it was very inexpensive and figuring there will be a “better” EV truck available in 2028, but now that is an uncertainty. With the current political climate I see a lull in EV development in the US for the foreseeable future. I could see myself in a Rivian R1T, or there may be plenty of used Lightnings to choose from when the time comes. The residual on mine is far too much to consider buying out the lease. Depending on my needs I may be looking to go back to a 3/4 ton when this lease is up.

I plan on upgrading my wife’s Tesla Y to a Juniper if it becomes financially advantageous later this year, otherwise we’ll probably keep that car long term since it’s paid off and we like it. It seems like Elon will be full speed ahead on making cool shit so those cars will keep getting better.

I bought mine in 2023. Lariat with everything. I love that big beautiful truck. I still think it’s a marvel. I am not worried about the future. It is a great truck.

People do go to China occasionally, so you don’t have to rely on the government for all of your news. In fact, I’m not sure where your news comes from because the only EV credit that China now’s has is for trading in an EV for an ICE vehicle. They know that they have a glut of EV manufacturers so they are not encouraging any more.

EVs are selling well because many areas will not let you license ICE vehicles (or make it difficult). They have really bad pollution due to their terrain in some areas and are trying to do something about it. They also do not have a native oil extraction industry which means that electrification reduces their dependence on other countries - and means that they don’t have as much of an oil lobby.
however China subsidizes all the Chinese EV manufacturers with billions.

problem is Ford counts a sale when vehicle is shipped to dealer and Tesla counts a sale when vehicle is registered to new owner.
but Ford posts it's data model by model every month. Telsla does not.

I was looking at 2025 to take in my 2022 but after I found out they reduced the usable kwh from 131 to 123 kwh I decided against it. While other manufacturers are trying to increase their range Ford has reduced the usable kwh of their battery packs.
I didn't bother to look at a standard battery. I imagine they reduced their kwh too.
I haven't heard of this... I just bought a 2022 four months ago and it already has the lower range due to platinum features, coming from a Jaguar Ipace the extra range was a big factor in the purchase. Can we opt out?

The platinum has always had reduced mileage range 300 instead of 320 with the ER battery which is the only one the platinum comes with. Personally I only charge at home and never use public chargers. If I had to depend on public chargers I wouldn't have purchased my lightning. I don't believe the charging infrastructure is ready for EV traveling. Definitely not if you're pulling a travel trailer. Best F150 I've ever owned for local use .

I was referring to the poster who said Ford reduced the usable kwh from 131 to 123 kwh on 202 models. Maybe I misunderstood him. I'm same boat as you, I have free nightly charging and drive 30k miles a year mostly doing a 60 mile there and 60 back round trip. I rarely use a public charger but when I do the Tesla ones are a game changer. I mostly drive for free and have to pinch myself at the awesomeness of the truck and the low cost of use

I parked my 2500 Ram and stopped paying $150/week in gasoline when I got my Lightning in February 2025.
Now I charge for 'free' most of the time from home solar during summer, will be back to overnight 2.8cents/kWh in late October when the sun heads south again...either way I save a ton of money per year driving electric. In 2024 I spent $7200 on gasoline for the year.

I think the charge network is great for normal travelling, and we have done a few 1000km round trips so far. It is only long distance hwy towing that is not ready - the infrastructure needs to add pull-through hwy chargers to make that work, and battery tech needs to advance...it will come, maybe sooner than we all think - where were EV's and charging options ten years ago compared to today? How quickly are they changing now ?

I’m curious, was this the FORD extended warranty, or a third party warranty plan ?

FORD. They gave it to me as an apology for issues I had with my Pro charger
