Removed the left (side of the vehicle) front frunk cover to check brake fluid levels and in twiddling around with the cover clips, decided to check out how the fasteners on the right front frunk cover were doing. I've only removed the right front frunk once or twice before. That was back in October 2023 to try trickling charging with the jump start connectors. I was surprised when I removed the right cover today to see two pieces of loose, used electrical tape lying on the plastic platform by the right lower front corner of the windshield. There seems to be a cable there that comes from the dash to connect to something plastic in the frunk area. I wondered if, with the summer heat and the passage of time, the tape had just become unstuck and fallen off that cable from the console area. I searched the forum on "loose tape," but no one else I could find reported a similar experience. Perhaps rather than provide electrical insulation, the tape was intended to guide the passage of some cable in the frunk and make it stay in a particular place or orientation. Anyone have any ideas? When I have time, I'll take a picture of the area where I found the loose tape, but I won't be able to do that for a day or two. The truck went into my dealer in January '23 so it's possible it's some detritus from something they did and didn't bother cleaning it up.

Welcome to Ford. Every F-150 I have owned (2012,2017,2021,2023 Lightning) had a sloppy wiring harness job. Loose electrical tape everywhere. EVERYWHERE. Learn to embrace it lmao. I have never had an issue arise from it myself. Sometimes if I feel a harness will rub into something, I will retape it myself.

Welcome to Ford.
Thanks for waking me up to reality! I wonder if any consequences are covered by my Ford Protect extended warranty! Doesn't seem like a "normal wear" issue (that's not covered).

I have been making it a bit of relaxing task whenever I have purchased a new Ford to inspect the engine bay wiring and "pull off" all of the loose, broken black friction/masking tape pieces that seems to be everywhere. I don't think it is a problem... I think these are pieces of tape that the wire loom supplier uses to hold the entire loom together prior to assembly. If you look close, it is just like black masking tape that tears easily while the actual tape on the loom seems to be much stronger. Ford has been doing this for years... I think it's just part of the assembly process-
