Has anyone here ever installed a ccs socket on the passenger side where the fake door is? I’ve been contemplating this but was curious what others have done

I briefly contemplated permanently mounting the NACS adapter plugged into a CCS1 cable on the passenger side, but the length of the cable from that side of the truck to the charge controller is likely long enough that it would need to be significantly oversized or liquid cooled. And I don't want to screw around with my brand new vehicle in that way.

No, main reason being the j3400 uses the same 2 pins for DC and ac charging so the vehicle requires an internal sense and switch to deliver power where it should be.

The ccs connector has 2 sets of pins, one for DC and the j1772 section for ac.

This is why you need 2 adapters.

I had thought about that, but it doesn't sound easy. If you did splice wires in to duplicate that port, there would be live exposed contacts on the other side. So you would need to have some smart switching to be able to handle that.

Add in that I believe the CCS connector is actively cooled, it would be quite a project to get all that installed and working safely.

Hmmmmm…, good point about the charge

I wasn’t thinking for destination chargers, just fast charging on the road.
What I was thinking was essentially piggy backing whatever guts are in an adapter in parallel to the existing charge port. Obviously this has a whole raft of safety and technical issues, but so long as you keep your fingers out of the charge ports and only plug in one charger at a time it seems like it could work.

Would only consider this if it’s offered by ford at a reasonable price. Definitely would not do an aftermarket add on for this type of things.
