Most likely due to the trim level, being the Pro it was meant for job sites thus having the 240v and SR battery where other trims like XLT, Flash, Lariat, Platinum are geared towards the general public.

Or I was lied to, lol.
lol It's just an option like any other :)

I have SR and would recommend it.

would I like the extra range? Sure, but not for $10k. For long road trips i gladly stop a couple extra times and save the money.

There are/were a lot of battery module issues with certain models in the 22/23 versions, which is why I waited and went with a 24.

There are a lot of sunroof leaks, so this is why I wanted one without.

I ended up wanting the ER version, and so I ended up with a 24 Flash. I also wanted a rear sliding window, but whatever.....

As I live in S FL, I also wanted the ProPower so I could power my house with a 240v inlet to the panel (well, not the AC, but everything else).

Just throwing some of the decision points I went through when finding the right Lightning. I probably could have went with a SR XLT with the ProPower, but I knew I would want to take trips and this was my first EV, so went with the ER version and the Flash.

Also, I looked into the FPL charging thing and it seems like it's decent. I ended up buying a Tesla Universal charger as I thought this would be a better solution in the long run, and if my wife ever purchased an EV. It was money up front, but scheduling on the Tesla charger is more reliable than Ford (at least from the complaints I read on the forums).

Of course, there are still a lot of very good deals on the 25 models, so don't count them out.

I have a Lariat SR and have taken it from the Canadian border to California/Washington border a few times. So far I have never wished for more range, and my wife hates the freeways so we often go to places that are pretty far out of the way such as the long way down the Washington coast. Now that you have Tesla compatibility there is really not much reason to get the bigger battery, at least on this side of the country.

Just for example - in the middle of a road trip we left Salem with 83% charge, drove 132 miles to Kalama and arrived with 34%. It looks like we spent 28 minutes there. Two hours is long enough without stopping for us so I have never felt the need to push it lower except when arriving home, and unfortunately I don’t have data for that.

One complexity is that you typically only charge to a bit above 80% while on the road, but your first leg there is no problem starting with 100% from your home charger.

I thought that I wanted the sliding window but I have never used it. I have a canopy with racks on top for long stuff. The power folding mirrors are the big feature for me (I drive on ferries.)

I had a gas Lariat with the smaller display and did prefer it. The large screen can be an annoyance over having buttons but it is not terrible.

Power.

I love my Lightning, but now having it for a year I'm disappointed in the mid-range once the battery gets below 80%, and that's with an ER, a SR has less go in that range already.

Buy it for the POWER!!

Ok, in all seriousness.... I'm being serious. But in addition to that, an ER has greater flexibility, reduces the number of cycles on the battery, and has higher resale. Aside from some very narrow use cases its functionally superior. The only question then is the price difference. I would not say its $10,000 better, but i sure would say its $2,000 better. I bet the truth for you is somewhere between those brackets too.

Hi new to everything. New to forums, looking to be new to EV’s. Currently have a 2025 Ram1500 bighorn hurricane. Came from a 2016 ram1500 eco diesel that got 202k miles in 8 years.
I am considering 2024 or 2023 XLT SR or Lariat ER. I drive 100 miles a day for work mostly highway. 50 miles at 70 mph, 40 miles at 60 mph and then 10 miles of 35-40 mph. I plan on keeping the truck for 10 years hopefully and usually put 22k-25k miles on it a year. I prefer the non large screen of the XLT over the massive vertical one but also want rear sliding window so that leaves me with the large screen lariat from my research.
My internal debate with the SR vs ER is battery degradation over the 10 years but also some what range anxiety being new to EV. SR look to be $10K -$12k cheaper but really with going from my current Ram ( 22mpg) i will make that price back in a couple years. I also live in south florida and FPL has 30 month unlimited charging off peak so electric is almost free. Has anyone had experience with the fpl program. Has anyone gotten the ER and said man I wish I just got the SR?

Im looking at a couple different options but for the most part 2023-2024 Lariat ER gold certified 10-15k miles there around $56-$58k is that about right? Is one year better or more sought after than the other? They also show as commercial vehicle use on carfax from Michigan any concerns with that?
Thank you for any help
Sean
I am in Florida and I had a 2023 Lariat ER and now have a 2024 Platinum.

The best used value is the 2023 Lariat ER for Florida owners. Mid $50's is a good price.

The 2023 Lariat ER with ; EQUIPMENT GROUP 511A $7,500.00
  • FORD BLUECRUISE 1.0 (3 YRS)
  • TOW TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE
  • TWIN PANEL MOONROOF
  • Didn't have the on board scales or Advanced security pack due to chip shortages.
  • had 3 years of Blue Cruise

2024's
  • Blue cruise was only 90 days unless the $2100 3 year option was selected
  • NONE of the 2024's have homelink garage door opener in the sun visor where the '23 Lariat ER did.
  • Have a Heat Pump, for Florida it doesn't make a difference.

My neighbor friend just signed up for the FPL program. He already had a Tesla charger and they replaced the charger with a new one that FPL can control.

Since he already had a 50 amp charger his deal was $31/mo unlimited all weekend and off peak during the weekdays. The summer peak period is only M-F noon-9pm. All other times are included at no additional charge.

From sign up to installation only took about 3 weeks.

If you don't already have a 50 amp 240 volt circuit they could repurpose the deal is $38/mo for the electric installation and equipment.

There are limitations
Needs to be in an attached garage
The electric run needs to be less than 50 feet.
There is a 10 year commitment
They won the equipment and after 10 years you own it.

Here is a picture of his installation. He is a real estate agent an p charges his Cadillac Lyriq.

2023 SR owner here. I live on LI so we don’t have a brutal winter but it does get somewhat cold. If you are driving about 100 miles a day and are charging at home you will be fine imo. I have had my vehicle for about 20 months. I regretted not having the ER once when I did a longer roadtrip and didn’t plan appropriately and before I got the Tesla adapter. So while I respect the other folks opinions I have to respectfully disagree and advise to save the money and get the SR, it is not worth spending the extra money (which is substantial) in your case.

I have a '25 ER Flash. I was indifferent between ER and SR but the deal I got happened to be for an ER. That said, I am glad I have an ER now. I am in the northeast and we take frequent weekend trips where ER at 80% would get me home anywhere around Boston/NH border/Cape Cod etc versus having to charge on the road (which isn't terrible since Tesla superchargers are available on 95) but it definitely helps on the long ride back home at night when everyone is sleeping, I can just make it home with may be 10-15% range left instead of stopping and waking everybody up (especially the two toddlers).

Ofcourse your use case might be different but I know I would have wished for the ER had I gotten the SR on these days.

It’s all about the money. If an ER is available and the price is within reason, buy it. The first time you suddenly have to drive 200 miles in a hurry, you will be so glad!

95% of the time it makes no difference, but for the other 5%, I’m sure glad to have the extra range (and even more if I could have gotten it)

For me, ER is like money in the bank, don’t need it most of the time, but…

Also, living where winter’s still alive is a compelling reason to carry around those excess electrons.

I have a 23 Lariat SR. I ABC every night and there are time it doesn’t leave the house for a couple days. If you are 100 miles round trip a SR is fine. I only wish I had the ER when we go to Phoenix from our place in Tucson. I do have to charge a bit to take the fear out on our return. Highway speed kills range. With your commute, you may want to look at Blue Cruise too. On another note, my first Ford and it is aw
