I have a 23' Pro ER. Purchased one of the power adapters off of Amazon that connects to the wire connector going to the rear view mirror and provides USB power such as for a dash cam. When I hooked it up, no power. So I tested the black and white wires that are spliced off of the factory wiring and turns out there is not 12v power to the rear view mirror, at least not on these pins. Is this normal? I also tried and failed about a year ago to connect the rain sensor. I assume that also has no power which is now a known issue and there is a wiring harness that can be purchased to run from the steering column to the mirror cover. However I believe it only provides power to the rain sensor, it would not also provide power to the rear view mirror would it? Is there another way to get power to the rear view mirror?

I have a '24 Pro and I just installed a FitCamX that plugs into the mirror harness. Camera gets power and the mirror still dims.

Does/did your Pro mirror automatically dim at night prior to the camera install attempt? Does it work now if you connect it normally without the camera bypass harness? If it works, it's getting power from somewhere.

Have you checked the fuses to make sure you didn't blow one while unplugging or adding the new bypass harness for the camera?

This would be my troubleshooting algorithm to try, let us know if there's any results from this. I can't think of anything beyond those basics. If the mirror doesn't work now or never worked prior, you can try the dealer/warranty route assuming you're still under 36,000 mi. Remove the bypass harness and plug the normal mirror harness back in before bringing to the dealer.

All 2023 Lightnings have the auto-dimming rear view mirror as standard equipment.

Like @B177y says, check your fuses. Looks like it is powered by Fuse 36 in the BCM (passenger scuff panel). The mirror connector is 16 pins. Pin 1 is power and pin 4 is ground.

NOTE - the mirror is powered only when vehicle is ON.

I noticed the harness for my dash cam has an inline fuse covered by black tape. Could that be blown if you are reading voltage from the harness?

2024 Flash : Maybe off topic here, but I installed a wiring harness for a dashcam and haven’t been able to use Apple Car Play wireless. Is there a wireless sensor in the mirror as well that the harness doesn’t connect with? Thanks

I'm not an expert but my dashcam has the option to connect with my phone via WiFi coming from the camera. This allows viewing and downloading clips from the dashcam.

If you are actively using the dashcam's WiFi signal, maybe the truck can no longer connect to your phone's WiFi? I believe CarPlay uses WiFi not Bluetooth.

Try disconnecting your phone from the Dashcam WiFi.

Not normal. We have a '23 Pro with dashcam powered from mirror successfully.

This is all correct. You can't connect to the dash cam wifi and wireless CarPlay at the same time.

Does anyone have a link to the harness?(to connect to the mirror power.)
I purchased a dash cam black Friday, which is still sitting sealed in the box waiting for the installation fairy to arrive.

Turned the camera WiFi off. Still not able to connect CarPlay wireless. Cycled the WiFi on the Lightning, no good. ?‍♂

Just to close out my OP

I was playing with FDRS for the first time and realized the cabin temp and humidity sensor were not being detected by the system. I pulled the cover off and checked the main plug going into the headliner. It was pushed almost all the way in but not quite, and it would not fully seat. One of the pins inside was bent only about 1mm but it was enough. Straightened the pin and reconnected. I now have working cabin environmental sensors and power behind the mirror. Either it came from the factory this way or when the glass guy replaced my windshield he failed to connect it properly. It has been to the dealership with those codes and they didn't even mention it, probably because there was no CEL.
