I saw on the Ford website that the order deposit refund policy is based on the dealer.
Called my dealer and they said the $1400 is not refundable.

With this economy and no APR incentives I'm having a hard time putting down a deposit with no out. And then there's the competition who only require $100 and it's refundable.

As much as I want one, I may have to wait a little longer. At least I have a mach-e and a powerboost to hold me over.

Anyone else getting the non-refundable lines from their dealers?

In many states, non-refundable deposits are illegal. Check your state law.

Which competition offers $100 deposits? For Chevrolet and Tesla, it's a $100 reservation similar to what Ford had until May 9th. For RAM, it's a $100 membership in the RAM EV Insider+ club. None of these are deposits.

Ford set the deposit range from 500 to 1500. You aren't getting under 500 if you order online

If I had completed with my dealer in person there would have been zero deposit. Online it showed one and being refundable I just paid it to make things go quickly

I have an XLT on order. My dealer has always been straight forward on MSRP no markups. I talked with them as I placed my order. The $500 deposit would be refundable if I don’t take delivery. Up here in Michigan it seems like we haven’t been ‘blessed’ with an over abundance of allocations. Dealer was excited to see an XLT order. That said, my dealer has 4 unclaimed Lariats for sale and if you look around there are a lot of Lariats sitting unsold on dealer lots. I can understand their reluctance in adding more (unsold) inventory at this time if you are ordering a Lariat or Platinum.

Correct, I meant reservations. I have a Tesla and a Ram reservation but the Tesla has a face only a mother can love and the Ram, well, is a Ram.

I am hoping the Ram provides some cheaper competition so Ford lowers their price. I don't see how they can do 350/500 range but we'll see.

You're comparing apples and oranges. If you want an EV truck, you can order a Lightning now. If you want un-obtanium, you can make refundable reservations and wait until who knows when with the others. Just like Lightning was until a few days ago. If you want a Lightning now without a deposit, you can find one to buy. They're out there.

When you can finally order another EV truck, you'll probably be faced with non-refundable deposit requirements if they're legal in your state.

They're doing it with a gas generator!
