My 23 ER Lariat is scheduled for build week 2 Jan, just got my window sticker today and it shows removal of heated steering wheel but clearly states rear sliding window with defrost. I can get behind the idea of just waiting for the dealer to install specific features at a later date to get trucks delivered soonest but that isn't a known. It seems that we all get to receive incomplete trucks and then get to just wonder if any of those missing features will be included later and that is unacceptable at this price point or any other in my opinion.

You are obviously an Apple enthusiast, as many people (in the US at least) are. But not everyone cares about smartphones and want to use them for everything in their lives, heck, huge amount of adults don't even know what an App is! (been in the mobile software business for years, and yes, this is true). Fobs and the like aren't going anywhere any time soon, at least not until some large percentage of the population ages out and dies off.
The overall point I was trying to make is that I don't think it would be hard for Ford to support things like Apple Watch as a key and to provide their own independent solutions. It is my opinion one of the reasons that Ford and other companies resist is that they know it will be a better solution for users who embrace that stuff and that they will lose some control. But what they are doing is making the dubious business decision that it is better for them in the long run to make many of their customers less happy. It is a business decision and not a customer happiness decision. I argue it is a shortsighted business decision.

I think it's better for Ford to send "incomplete" vehicles to owners now rather than hold them all back and make the customer wait for months.

It's a way of communicating to the customers that parts shortages are real and Ford is doing their best not to delay the overall EV truck experience.

For me, I would rather have the truck now less some features instead of being in limbo like the early wave orders of 2022 where builds took 4-5 months making more frustrated customers.

I believe that this particular item will be upgraded ASAP since it is part of their EPA range test number. Lightnings sold without heated steering wheels do not contain the equipment used to achieve the number on the Monroney Label. I think it also is the reason for the token $50 credit for removal, if that's what it is.
