Good morning! I'm a new lightning owner. My other care is a Tacoma with bypass shocks. I don't plan to drive the lightning off road per se, but I will be driviung dirt roads and I am pretty spoiled with the awesome ride of fancy pants shocks. I will likely have the opportunity to get some ARB Shocks, likely the MT64. I do not want lift, I wll not be upsizing the tires.

I'm trying to find info on what the rear schock body is. They look the same as the fronts, I've seen videos comparing them and they seem the same, but with different springs. The front struts seem the same asn a ICE truck with different springs.

I'm wondering if I can get 2 sets of front schocks and swap the springs accordingly and go with that.

Does anyone have any insight into this?

I just got the Eibach shocks for my Lightning. After 78 thousand miles the OEM shocks were toast (usual for Ford OEM shocks).

The Eibach shocks for the Lightning are absolutely two different sets with different part numbers and different bottom mounts, front to back.

I only have 26k on my 22 and it seems like I’m bouncing all over the place, nothing like when the truck was newer. Do you feel like the Eibachs are an improvement over the OEM (when they’re not worn out)?

Yes they are a significant improvement. I kept the OEM springs and have not lowered, raised or leveled the truck and see no need to.

BTW - on my old Fusion and ditto on my son's old Fusion, the OEM Ford shocks wore out within 30k or maybe less, both cars.

Ford is not alone - most carmakers habitually cheap out on shocks as they are an easily replaced, high volume item and IMHO most drivers will never notice or protest.

Rumor has it the rear shocks are the same in design as the previous generation front shocks.

I have not seen anyone directly confirm this however.

The rear struts are very different from any application. The front struts are the same with the ICE truck. I replaced my front and rear struts on my 23 platinum at 28k miles. I bought the Eibachs all around and It no longer bounces around and it is steady and rides better.
It would initially be firmer after install but softened up after about 1k miles.
I successfully replaced the fronts myself and the next day I got the rear struts out which looked easy and putting them back on I got the rude awakening that I needed some assistance. Which had me 🧐🤔 where did I go wrong Took me a minute to figure it out So you would have to loosen the rear axle nut and would also need someone to put weight on the rear axle/arm to push downward while I had to align the both into the struts. So good luck
