Rotary shifter possible

What happened to the break controller? Did it get left in the cavity behind the shifter?

Yeah you can see it in the second picture of the hole in the dash. It’s just sitting back there. I never ever use it otherwise I would have found another place for it. It’s pretty small so I think it would be easy to put it somewhere else

I bet it could also fit nicely in the side tray, where I circled in yellow

Why don't you just cut the wires on the new shifter and extend them instead of makeshift extension harness? The new shifter is cheap.

The new shifter doesn't come with a harness/connector.
Cutting the existing harness is probably a guaranteed way of voiding your warranty and most Lightnings are still under factory warranty.

Sorry, was a long day yesterday. Duh

Need to look into this more as I want my explorer rotary where my trailer controller is as well (pull trailers all the time but never use the brakes as I find the regen is plenty). I want at least 1 more cup holder since I usually have a water cup and an energy drink. Been rolling with an open console for a month now since I love the extra space and not having the shifter in my way all the time.

I'm working on a different version that puts the shifter at the front of that compartment instead of the rear, the harness is long enough if you undo a clip.

The back area is much deeper than the front, so one could make a slightly bigger (4" seems doable) and deeper cup holder compared to the front space.

That's actually where I keep it right now. I went ahead and ordered the ford tray part since it was $25. I'm thinking about just printing a part that fits in there so the shifter can go in front and will hold a 40oz water bottle or whatever in the back.
