OEM is generally not that great of a quality. Also, it requires taking apart the coilovers to replace the shock. Why not use better performance springs at the same time. No extra labor, but a good improvement.
Sort of like, when a timing belt is replaced on an ICE vehicle, people replace the water pump as well. The maybe nothing wrong with it but just a convenient time to do so.
Got it. It just makes sense. Thanks!

rides really rough now.
floatyness in the front suspension.
super soft ride the OEM delivered.
floatiness of truck.
Honestly, the lightning is the tightest and most sporty truck I've ever driven that is stock. The big problem is the weight, you need to upgrade heavily to account for it. Off the shelf kits are slowly getting there but expect conflicts with every mod.

Err, what? This thing is a floaty boat, EVERY truck i have ever owned was tighter than this thing. The Tacoma would give it a run for it's money on floppy handling, but that's the only one.

Do you have an sr? It's still just a truck though. Tacomas, although not a full size, are also notoriously hard tailed.
Er

Tacomas are notoriously ROUGH riding, but especially the ORs are floaty front and rear.

Back to my point, of all the TRUCKS I have owned the Lightning is the most floaty feeling.

I think the issue with the OP’s truck is too much height. Spacing the factory strut units down for height generally works for a 1-2” leveling lift. The lower A arm may not have enough down travel to allow things to work smoothly. I don’t see any provisions for correcting the front sway bar angle after install, so it could be binding and making the ride harsh. I haven’t seen a response about the tires being E rated vs SL, but the 275/65R20 is available in both. E rated tires inflated to 60-80PSI would make the truck ride terribly.

You’ve never owned a Chevy then. The Lightning is miles better than my former 2021 and 2022 Silverado 1500‘s I had for work. Driving over the Cape Cod canal bridges with the Chevy was almost scary because the truck porpoised very hard on the expansion joints.

Sorry for the delay. Responding to those who asked for more info on the tires and PSI.
They are load range E and I’m running them at 52psi.

Something doesn’t feel right. I can’t feel certain bumps through the peddles and steering wheel.

A lower height will have a better ride and Shocks will have a better ride than spacers.

I'm a huge fan of Bilsteins, especially if you want to get rid of the floatyness in the front suspension.
This^^^^^.

I did put Bilstein 5100 front shocks only with the stock springs and it levelled it and made the front end amazing. No dive in corners, no float And no noise. One day I will track day this truck, it handles that well.
I do not know others experience with doing this but for me it is a noticeable improvement / upgrade for under $400.00.

These are what I used. 125. Each and 75.00 per side at an independent service shop. Took 45 min and I had the spring compressors to do it myself but then found the shop that did what I would have done much faster. It was painless. 400 total dollars spent.

Where did you get your tires? If it was discount tire/americas tire they may let you bring the e rated back and swap for the SL rated. I am sure that will improve your ride.

So I leveled my 24 on Rough Country’s 3” level with the new UCAs.

I went with the Lariat wheels and added Toyo AT3 EV tires (275/65/R20).

The issue I have is the truck rides really rough now. I understand exactly why, but wanted to check if anyone has had any luck with a good level on Fox or bilstein shocks?

Right now everything rattles and it’s driving me crazy. 🤪

Looks great! Are you using stock shocks and springs? I was thinking of using this list and using the Raptor shocks and springs in the front.
