I have a full-size sub enclosure underneath the rear bench seat of my 2024 lariat. However, because the padding on the floor of the lightning is so Plush, the sub enclosure sinks into the carpet, and the grill covers for the sub drivers press against the carpet on the floor. My plan is to thin out the sections of padding and carpet underneath the sub however, I am incredibly concerned about making sure there’s nothing under there that could be damaged or cut. Specifically wires. Has anybody done any work under the carpet in the rear?

That seems pretty risky, overall. Not from damage underneath but longevity of the carpet, once cut.

How is the spacing between the top of the sub box and bottom of seat? If there's say 1'4" to spare, you may be able to just add the rear rubber mat/tray, and place sub box on top of that to avoid the carpeting issue.

I’m not worried about the carpet too much., As that is always replaceable. I am limited in terms of raising the height of the southern enclosure as the seat rests on the sub enclosure. Therefore, my only option is to thin out the carpet. I would effectively cut a “U” in the carpet, as opposed to cutting a hole in the carpet. So there would be three sides of a seam.

Maybe take out the padding under the carpet in those areas taped off and put something as thick as the padding back under there so it doesn't sink. Maybe cut a piece of 1x4 or something similar and fill the areas under the carpet where the padding was.

Your truck, but I would modify the sub enclosure before I started cutting the pad out.

If you cut the carpet use a hot knife so it doesn't fray, I may try something else but it's your truck.
