Tailgate Won’t Open

I am trying to open my tailgate and it just beeps 3 times. I have tried using the fob, the button on the tailgate, and the button inside the cab. I am not getting any warning messages on the dash. The only thing I did differently was use Valet Mode for the first time tonight, which I have since deactivated. Any ideas? Frunk opens fine.

I don't think this is the same issue but I always have to press the button on tailgate twice. I think the first press wakes up the truck and only then does it start searching for a key. The second press then opens the tailgate.

Maybe a valet mode glitch? I'd try a Sync reset then cycle valet mode again.

If it's mechanical, you could try applying pressure to the tailgate as you press the open button.

Do you have a bed cover and/or something in the bed that could have shifted against the gate?

Scroll down on this page and you will see Similar Threads. One that sounds promising is you can flip valet mode on and off again.

Other solutions are more involved and required parts replacement.

You nailed it. I tried everything again this morning and it was acting the same. I pushed and pulled on it, I checked harnesses and what not. I put the tailgate in manual mode, pushed it shut and hit the button at the same time, and it finally dropped. I turned power mode back on and it’s functioning normally. Hopefully it stays that way. Thanks!
