I have have Tesla Model Y and LIghtning and been solely charging at home. I will take a long road trip in the coming days and will be my first time charging outside. I looked at my Tesla App. I did not see an subscription to sign up for supercharging. Do I need one if I have Tesla?

Did you add the Lightning as a vehicle under Vehicle Details? The app might need to see that you have a non-Telsa vehicle that's authorized on the network to give you the option of a membership. There are a few people here who have both the Lightning and a Tesla, they may be able to chime in with more accurate information!

Are you taking your trip in the Tesla or the Lightning?
If you are taking the Tesla, you don't need a subscription.
If you are taking the Lightning, you don't NEED a Tesla subscription, but you will pay a higher price. To get the Tesla price with your Lightning, you need the monthly subscription.

You must add your vehicle, and adapter, to the Tesla app. You can only charge at locations the app shows you after doing that. You need the adapter, do you have one?

As to proce, you pay the non-member price unless you join for $12.99. It pays off in just over 1 charge. Join the morningmof your trip, then immediately downgrade takes effect in 30 days.

Thank you for the input an guidance. I am taking the Trip with the Lightning. I think I figured it out. Gave it a little test run. First time trying it was a little rough just alot of rushing and user error. Second time went smooth. Tesla networks seems to charge faster than anything out there. Just the length of charging cable sucks otherwise might try to use the supercharger network as much as I can for a road trip. What is the price differance with subscription and not charging around .10-.15?

PS sucks that the truck is discontinued. I do not have plan on trading it in but always good to have a good trade in value in your back pocket if something else catches your eye. At least it ant like frisker where it is completely went belly up.

Something in that area - it varies. One or two charges will pay for the months membership. Just make sure to start the session with the Tesla app BEFORE you plug in or else you will pay the non-member price.

Also note that some people report that you need to plug the adapter onto the NACS cable first and then plug it into the truck, and some report that you need to plug the adapter into the truck first and then plug in the NACS cable. The first time I used my A2Z adapter, I plugged it onto the NACS cable and then into the truck and it failed to work. Then unplugged everything and then went the other way and plugged the adapter into the truck and then the NACS cable into the adapter and it worked. I have always done it that way and never had it fail.

Got I didnt sign up this time but I keep that in mind when I do my big road trip. I am guessing you can look at the app and see if you getting the subscription pricing.

Figure closer to 14 cents. You can lookup the price for non-members vs. members easily in the app or website. It varies by location.

The price varies A LOT. The local one I just looked at right now is 17 cents difference.
As to seeing both prices, the website does show both, but the Tesla app only shows your current price (member or non-member). If you look at the Ford app, you will always see the non-member price so if you have the membership from Tesla you can see the difference by comparing the Tesla vs Ford apps. Note that for Electrify America, they always list the non-member price on their app, but state that members pay 25% less.

Is there a membership free for Electrify America?

EA is $7.00 per month. Tesla is $12.99. Oddly enough here in California, Tesla is plus tax, but EA is not taxed.
