Well it only took me 7 months to finally get around and write my personal blog post about buying my 2022 Lightning Lariat ER from a guy 900 miles away.

Read on if you are interested. Although this happened some time ago, I consider it my introduction to the group. So... Hi! I'm Ed and I am currently in an all-EV household. My first electrified car was a 2016 Chevy Volt Premier PHEV and have owned several PHEVs since then.... 2019 Volt, 2018 Pacifica PHEV and a 2021 RAV4 Prime. Before then, I was all diesel all the time... particularly of the VW TDI variety. At one point everyone in my family had a TDI. Loved those cars. Don't miss the smoke or the turbo lag now...

Anyhoo, I wanted to say hi and I very much appreciate this forum immensely. I have gained so much information here that I hope to repay the favor in some way with my upcoming mods. I really love that everyone here enjoys updating and modifying their rigs. My big project is to retrofit OEM Ford power running boards to my Lariat... Already have all of the parts... just have to find time to get it done.

On with my blog post...

Salute to my fellow former TDI / Volt / Lightning owner.

Let me know how the running board upgrade goes. I'm in the early decision stages about what I'm going to do with mine in that regard.

That's a great deal getting a 17K mile 2022 Lariat ER for under $50K! Best color, too.

I've driven 660 miles for a used car... yes, that far...
- 750 miles for a '22 KIA Sorento PHEV
- biked across town for my LIGHTNING in late '22... yes, that's a bicycle... I had no ride.
- another 190 miles in early '24 for our KIA EV9

That's the way to do it if You know what You want, and why...

Back in the mid-1990s I bicycled all the way across Louisville Kentucky on my trusty Peugeot from the South End to the East End because my 1990 BMW crapped its water pump, and the only (then) BMW dealer in Louisville was way out in the East End. It was a nice Saturday though with decent Spring weather so what the hell... :)

Had a Jetta TDI, manual, and to this day I still kind of miss it. I didn't like how the interior was kind of shit, with the buttons peeling after just a few years, but I loved the engine and transmission. My only regret is when I bought it I could have purchased a Jetta wagon with a manual. That is a great combo.

As for the post, my wife said the same thing on a recent trip from FL to NC to SC and back. https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/se-fl-western-nc-charleston-sc-se-fl.31366/
She commented on how it's the most comfortable vehicle we have traveled with. This is with a Lexus RX350 probably being the previous most comfortable, and my truck has cloth seats! I also had a BMW M235i, which was my previous favorite vehicle to travel with (even with the limited storage, but it was hella comfy). Wife now has a Tesla model Y, which I think we will try out with a weekend trip soon. I still think the Lightning will be a more comfortable ride.

You got it! I couldn't have done it without the help of Jesse at infotainment.com... I'll update with another blog post.

Former always bought a TDI to EV owner. The only one i kept is my 2008 Gen 2 Touareg V10—which i will keep forever. It has just over 50k miles and is pristine.

Great color on the F150.

The V10 Touareg is AWESOME. Quite the unicorn! I imagine it is blast to drive. Hopefully repairs will be at bay. I've heard they are a bitch to work on... Quite the crowded engine compartment. Any pics?

Both. It uses Apple carplay connection to run an Android box on the side. So you basically have an Android tablet that's being fed to the built-in touch screen. I plan on posting more information about this on my blog soon, so stay tuned. If you have urgent questions feel free to message me and I'll answer any questions you might have. I love using that for video as well as the torque application to monitor my truck.
