Slight upgrade!

295/70r18 Nokian Outpost nAT.

Its still up in the air so no, no efficiency numbers! That said, i did a controlled 60 mile, 70mph, drive just last weekend and will do the same exact drive soon.

Because they very much are!

No actually. I was expecting some rubbing since I have yet to install the leveling kit but so far nothing touches.

These are what came on mine. Still plenty of tread at 30K miles which is the best wear I have ever gotten from a AWD vehicle. I think these trucks are very kind to tires...counterintuitively.

I am pretty happy with these tires also. I may look at Michelins when the time comes. These Goodyears are holding up pretty well for me too. I'm at 20K miles right now

Honestly, 87% cosmetic, the rest living in the snow states where we occasionally get deep snow, plus the occasional trip off pavement. Comfort was not a driving factor

My only qualm with the stock Goodyears is they don't inspire much confidence in the snow. We had a terrible year in terms of lack of snow, but the few times it did snow a few inches, once the snow gets packed down, I had to creep around town in order to maintain traction. The front end breaks away easily on even the slowest turns, and ABS works overtime on stops that require a bit of extra braking. Maybe in ICE applications, this tread design is fine. But my guess is with the weight of this truck, it gets overwhelmed easily in snow/ice. If snow is sticking to the ground, I don't even think about using 1-Pedal. But in the summer, the tire works well.

It’s just not cold enough in Colorado. My HT Goodyears did just fine all winter in northern Wisconsin but snow (and even ice) has a lot of traction below 20F.

To be honest, ice & snow was never a consideration when making this statement. This is a great point. I live in Central California. Same as SoCal only hotter! LOL. We do have a ski resort an hour away, but when that is in the picture, I'll be going with someone else or taking my early Bronco. cheers!

Quick update, I'll try and put a more detailed post together later.

BLUF: Going from the stock tires to the 295/79r18s, plus a 2" leveling kit, resulted in right around a 10% drop in efficiency.

I conducted a controlled 60 mile drive to test efficiency, 30 miles out, 30 back, 70mph and ending at the off ramp across the highway from my starting point.

On stock tires the efficiency was 2.0 m/kwh, bumping up to 2.1 the momen i touched the brakes to end the trip.
On the 295s it was 1.8 m/kwh, bumping up to 1.9 about 200ft after touching the brakes.

Weather was the same. Speedometer was calibrated for the new tires. Speed was set to exactly 70mph both trips. Traffic was very light.

The nokians are supposedly EV rated so expect worse efficiency from other brands, but all in all minimal loss.
