Sadly my truck burned to the ground tonight. Felt a pop under my feet. There was a loud pop followed two smaller ones. We had barely enough time to get a few things out of the back seat before it was fully engulfed in flames. Scary night.

Oh my goodness! Glad you are safe! This must be the first documented Lightning fire.

No issues. It’s been great. We thought we hit something the pop was so loud. And we felt it under our feet. How was there no warning? I remember seeing the battery temp and it was normal.

Gotta admit, this is the first incident with the Lightning I’ve seen or heard of for that matter. Several with Teslas but not the Lightning.

If you're going to look for a replacement....I'd avoid the 'carbonized'...just sayin'...might have been an omen.....

Seriously, I hate to see things like this happen. Best of luck with getting the claim settled and whatever your next vehicle will be.

Keep us updated idk how they will figure out what happened with such a crazy fire. Never seen anything like it. Scary and glad no one was hurt.

Doesn’t seem like the ice melted around the burning vehicle??
Is this real?

Was the popping the pyro fuse? Do the trucks have one like Tesla? Massive battery failure?

Our trucks do have pyro fuses, so you may be onto something. A catastrophic lithium ion battery failure can rapidly get out of control and spread like what OP has encountered.

I hope the telemetry data could be retrieved for Ford to investigate.

Edit: I am curious how much time elapsed from the time the pop occurred to the truck being engulfed with flames, so we have an idea how much time we have for ourselves should it ever happen on a freeway or such.
